Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

I feel its probably safe to say at this point that we'll be retaining pick 1 unless North cough up 2+3 or 2, 15 and future first. Cant see any other deal that pries it out of our hands. Draft this year isnt super spectacular outside the top 10 (insert "weak draft year" meme here).

Now whether we take Reid or not is a different story.....
North clearly know we’re taking Reid at 1 otherwise they wouldn’t be trying to trade. If we have pick 1 on draft night, Harley Reid will be an Eagle.

Again I don’t want to trade but if North trade 2 of their late 1st picks with GWS/GEEL then offer 2,7/8 and the remaining 1st rounder I think ROB will take it. In the end it means North trade picks 2,15,17 and 18 for pick 1.

We've had the same discussion out our way and the general issue is it seems the Cats have a target in mind (suspected to be Sanders) but if he was off the board they may shift back. That makes it a live trading problem.

I think North want Reid. That’s not controversial, every club would

I think we’re happy to take Reid but also see pick 1 as an opportunity to bring in a broader spread of talent by splitting it. That’s conditional though on receiving a hefty price because a) we don’t want be giving away a generational talent for peanuts and b) Reid has the capability of becoming a generational talent so has a high value in his own right by retaining him

As it stands picks 2 and 3 is too much for a North to pay whilst 2 and another two late firsts is probably too little for West Coast to accept

Both positions are fair so neither club are assholes for walking away in that situation

The question becomes do both clubs hold their nerve or does one relent on draft day when it’s clear the other is walking away from any deal

Lot of pressure on both clubs to get it right and the best result for each is probably to do nothing. I also think both support bases would be happy with that
they will be late firsts in name only. any normal year picks 20+ are second rounders.

I cant believe we still have another month of scenarios. I wish it was all done. Driving me nuts

No problem, looks like you are off to the draft.

Out of interest, who would you take/want with all the picks?
I’d want the below
2: curtin
3: Watson
15: Schoenmaker
17: morris
18: roberts

Wouldn’t mind mitch Edwards either with a teens pick

Think the Eagles know the absolute best offer will come moments before we take our pick.

Do you have the eagles poster “mop” on ignore?
Ah good you’ve wondered over to our board.
You’re the geezer who half of his own board has on mute, yeah?

Wonder how long you’ll last here 🤔

Not happening

2 and 15

Or we take our 5 first rounders to the draft
The tag line over the last couple of weeks has been "an offer that blows us away".

Pick 2 and 15 isn't that.

I would be intrigued to watch key figure heads at the club get in front of the media and try spin the fact that 2 and essentially pick 20 after bids was too good to refuse.

Or we might be playing silly buggers and making North think we'll take Reid so that they cough up a couple of high picks.

I dont have a lot of faith in this club when it comes to draft night - they get a bit too "moneyball" sometimes.

If North are mad enough on the night to give say 2, 15 and F1 I'd sign for it.

Harley Reid could be generational, I don't disagree - but for an offer like that you could have McKercher/Curtin, another highly rated player (eg Schoenmaker, Collard, ZZ etc), and a potential top two pick next year.

Just so we’re clear IDGAF what North posters post in their board. Nor do I care what they think about what we post on ours

I do care about what they post here however and whilst I’m happy to give a bit of license when it comes to lighthearted banter, there is a line and The Nostradamus you’re close to crossing it

Yeah, that's what I mean... I guess it could have an assurance in place from the Cats (I think Sanders goes to the Dogs personally) but it's definitely a hitch in any potential plan.

Can you boot The Filth Wizard as well.

So do Giants. I doubt anyone is gonna wanna trade out if that consensus top 9 or so players to the late teens where things get more iffy.

And ban this guy for getting the song from his username stuck in my head.

So you seem 100 percent that we are trading pick 1 for 2 and a few late firsts. There's no more on the fence from you Pants.

Is your source Eagles based or Kangaroos based and if it's Kangaroos based are you saying the deal has already been agreed upon?

You keep answering with certainty now and saying you're the source so there's no point circling around it any longer.

Just come out and say

"I have a source at ........ and i've been told that the deal is/will be.......... and it has/hasn't been agreed upon by all parties.

Use the shitter or get off the toilet mate.

Well the thing is The Puma # 9,
Pants does have good information, he is ITK, however he needs to be very circumspect with just how much he can definitively disclose, otherwise his source of information will be cut off.

Now I know that’s very frustrating but rather than bag Pants out, just accept the morsels of information that he is able to feed us.

Things are going on behind the scenes, you must be aware of that 🤷‍♂️, that’s just the nature of the beast.

We will be getting offers for Reid from now till draft night, how tempting they will be remains to be seen.

( The reassuring thing is that will all this interest in him, it just reinforces how *ing good he is. )

However we should be prepared to accept news “IF IT EVENTUATES” that our recruiters may decide to accept a trade.
It’s pointless throwing all the toys out of the cot until we know what we get in exchange for Reid.

I am already on the record as saying I want to keep pick 1 and draft Reid.
To me he is worth more in terms of confidence and image to us than a draft hand upgrade.

……………….

As a side note I find it amusing that The Beggars supporters think that if they trade Reid in, that they have any chance of keeping him long term at their piss ant Club.
Kid likes the big stage and adores the adulation that comes with the sea of affirmation….. he won’t be getting that playing for the Shinbeggars, he will simply do his time and move on to Collingwood or whichever of the Big Victorian Clubs that come for him.

We could at least give him a home crowd of 50K every home game with a raucous noise and atmosphere.
Sure beats playing home games in Tasmania in front of 12,000 people in cold wet blustery conditions.

The Beggars are just such a minnow Club it’s hard to see them ever pulling their own weight in a National Competition without substantial subsidies.

Their long term survival relies entirely on the ongoing drip feed from vAFL house.
While Laura “ blue and white slippers” Kane, is in charge, that we be the go.

NM should look to shop their 2x of their 15,17,18 for a F1 in 2024. They can then offer us 2, 15/17/18, F1(NM).

Odds are its a top 2 pick next year for us, and NM get to keep their "pick 2 of the top 3" they seem to want to do.

It's a line I've used before, those academy kids and F/S aren't options anyway so it matters not where they go. Still choosing from the available draft pool.
Agreed. But it does mean at say pick 15, you're getting the 20th best kid in the draft, not the 15th, because of those academy f/s kids.

Given what The Filth Wizard posted about Geelong not wanting to trade back in the hope that Sanders slides

If pantskyle is also right that 2,15,17 might be enough for us to accept

On draft night (ignoring GC bids)

1 Reid (NM)
2 McKercher (WC)
3 Duursma (NM)
4 Watson (Haw)
5 Sanders (WB)
6 Caddy (Mel)
7 Curtin/O’Sullivan/Windsor (GWS)

If GWS don’t take Curtin we could trade 15 and 17 (or 23) to Geelong for 8

We end up with McKercher and Curtin which I’ve said all along would a good result for trading pick 1. Particularly if we have 17 instead of 23
