Clarko didn't even mention Maley in the conference today so doubt he's in.

Also if there was a debut surely we would've seen something by now?

wouldn't surprise me if they go the safe route and bring in comben and greenwood with no debutants. Being interstate if anyone debuts they'll need to organise families etc. reckon something would have been announced by now otherwise.

But it’s a mistake imo not playing one of Sellers or Finnbar

I don’t think greenwood helps us win more than those 2 and I’d rather get games into them

Imagine one of them comes in and kicks a bag and fills the big hole in our list for the next decade

don't think. Maley is near it anyways as he wasn't even mentuoned by clarko but sellers obvs should be. maybe they throw a curve ball and bring in comben to play forward and keep the backline as is even. either way i think they need to bring in both comben and greenwood at a minimum. one for combens height but also greenwood as ruck relief. We can't be playing larkey as the backup ruck.

There was stats in the vfl thread(?) Maley has played his best games in the VFL as his last two games.

While there is something to be said for bringing in a player when they’re up.

I’m tipping the coaches probably want to see at least some level of consistency.

Hopefully he just continues to improve.

the round 1 game not so much (although he should have kicked 3 if not for a brain fade on the goal line), but the game against Carlton was his best VFL performance by a fair way.

No issue at all with coaches wanting to see a bit more before throwing him in against and AFL side let alone a Grand Finalist from last year.

Where we are relative to where they are we should be about as up as we can be for this game.

They could come out and blow us off the park like last year. Or their issues may be as big as being made out.

As I read the VFL stats, his 2 games with us were just his 5th game as a forward - like most standalone sides, Bullants are undersized and they played him for most of 2023 as a ruck, where his numbers look okay without being outstanding. It took Preston until the end of the season to work out they had something in front of the ball. With a bit luck, he'll carry on with us but I agree, he needs more than 1 game to move ahead of Sellers in the race for a debut

No debuts announced as of yet so l'm thinking Comben and Greenwood in for CCJ and Pink...

Really don't understand the calls for Maley at the moment - he's very raw and we'd be better served letting him continue the development in the VFL - look at Larkey and his development in the VFL and he's spoken previously about how beneficial this was to getting him to where is at now. He's not the answer to any of our issues/injuries in my view. Would rather see him dominate for an extended period of time before getting a game.

We are devoid of a contested marking player.

He took multiple contested marks.

People see a void and an answer to it and boom Maley in.

All other information is superfluous.

His been causing headaches for our so called key defenders.right from his first match Sim his marking has been outstanding..6 goals from CHF in Elthams premiership can play..

And not in the future

Slow and if he doesn’t get first hands or is right on the player that does to be able to tackle they stream away from him

Too short to ruck or play key forward
