Crazy to think the Jack Bowes trade was worth it for Geelong even without the pick 7 sweetener thrown on top. Perfect age bracket for us too.

You've got the rebuilding Cats making finals?See what you think when the whips are cracking...
You've got the rebuilding Cats making finals?
That's terrific.
My post was a response to a misguided read on our situation, not questioning Geelong's list.
I think Geelong are doing exceptionally well, I just don't buy into the misguided views of our situation that don't go a little deeper.
If you can look at the performances of Dow and Ralphsmith yesterday or the way Young and Miller were taken to the cleaners by one of the worst teams the AFL has ever seen and think "at least we're playing the kids cause these guys are our future" best of luck to you. You're certainly not missing the optimism gene.
The CFL have only fixtured the rebuilding Cats twice at Kardinia Park so far this year and one of those was against North who we'd beat on the moon. Of the undefeated rebuilding Geelong Cats's five wins two of those have been at Adelaide Oval and one at the MCG. The CFL have also ensured that the undefeated rebuilding Geelong Cats have yet to win a single free-kick count all year, alas the undefeated rebuilding Geelong Cats have so far defied all the odds to sit equal 1st on the ladder.Injuries have stopped us this year.
Also Cats have the biggest home ground advantage in the league and a very favourable fixture so far.
Richmond moved from pillar to post by the CFL.
If you make those general write off statements based on one game, good luck to youIf you can look at the performances of Dow and Ralphsmith yesterday or the way Young and Miller were taken to the cleaners by one of the worst teams the AFL has ever seen and think "at least we're playing the kids cause these guys are our future" best of luck to you. Yeah, pretty big advantage to be the only team in the AFL to play home finals away and not get 11 home games. Pretty big advantage. Also such a disadvantage for those poor sides to drive 70km and play footy on mars as I’ve heard it described.Injuries have stopped us this year.
Also Cats have the biggest home ground advantage in the league and a very favourable fixture so far.

Collingwood minus Daicos would go close, but he's a superstar and boosts their stocks by a long way.Honest question; does Richmond have the worst youth in the AFL?? I cant think of a side who has worse right now.
They are going to turn into the next north Melbourne with a long streak of horrible outcomes.
Who are Richmond’s quality youth?? It’s hard to think of anyone.Lol Ralphsmith is the 36th Richmond player selected this year and will almost certainly be delisted this year. He played because he had to play. Dow is not one of our better youngsters it is a similar story, they are playing him to give him every chance.
And Miller and Young weren't taken to the cleaners, only Young was. He is currently way below the best we saw from him last year and there could be any number of reasons for that. In one post you are saying these guys are too old to count as part of the rebuild, and in the next post you are claiming them as evidence our rebuild is failing. It is fair to say you are a bit clueless.
Collingwood historically rebuild very quickly tho. Richmond don’tCollingwood minus Daicos would go close, but he's a superstar and boosts their stocks by a long way.
The best thing about the CFL argument is that they seriously think the AFL doesn't want Richmond to be successful. The CFL have only fixtured the rebuilding Cats twice at Kardinia Park so far this year and one of those was against North who we'd beat on the moon. Of the undefeated rebuilding Geelong Cats's five wins two of those have been at Adelaide Oval and one at the MCG. Corrupt Football League. Can someone tell me what a cfl is and why it hated Richmond specifically?
Injuries have stopped us this year.

Inexperience isn't necessarily the same as playing under 23s though. Our team yesterday included the following (games played):
Tom Brown (5)
Ben Miller (29)
Tyler Young (24)
Hugo Ralphsmith (33)
Seth Campbell (6)
Ryan Mansell (37)
Maurice Rioli (32)
Mykelti Lefau (4)
Thomson Dow (23)
Kane McAullife (2)
Tyler Sonsie (13)
208 games experience between them.
"The kids" in this context is referred to relative inexperience, and players that still would have between 100-200 career games left if they're good enough, even if they're not all 18 years old they still have significant upside but need significant development time. If a player is 22, 23, 24 and has 100-200 games left they're still considered part of the rebuilding list which needs more work. I would have thought that Geelong of all clubs would understand that you can get long term value out of guys even if they're that little bit older. To say they don't have improvement in them isn't true, we've seen it before our eyes this season with players making improvements, even week to week in some cases.
It needs more work because it's been the most succesful list in the AFL over the last 10 years, and of course there's some holes there and some players who couldn't break into a 3 time premiership team and regular finalist in that time.
You're getting caught on age averages and trying to catch out on the numbers alone and not having a critical look into the actual side on paper.
Every club is on a different timeline, our rebuild is basically starting this year under a new coach.
Not hard if you know them.
Gibcus 21yo is clearly a quality player, obviously had vile run with injuries.
Campbell is acquitting himself exceptionally well for a guy who has just turned 19 in just about the most disjointed forward line in history.
Rioli Jnr is playing very good footy, he is 21.
Brown has had a couple of excellent showings amongst his 5 games he is 20yo.
And there are a load of 23-24-25yo's going well this year, Mansell, Miller, Balta, Bolton.
And another bunch of 20-21-22yo's struggling in the AFL team for now, as you might expect in a team that has only had 9 players play all 6 games.
The only reason you think they are all no good is because you want to think they are all no good.
Inexperience isn't necessarily the same as playing under 23s though.
Young and Miller are giving you what they always will. They're okay. Miller might become important if Gibcus can't get his body right.
Dow and Ralphsmith have had a solid amount of games to prove themselves and turn 23 this year. They aren't KPP's so you'd want to have seen more by now.
So the scope for improvement from younger players in the current side could come from:
Tom Brown (5)
Seth Campbell (6)
Ryan Mansell (37)
Maurice Rioli (32)
Mykelti Lefau (4)
Kane McAullife (2)
Tyler Sonsie (13)
There have been some good signs from a few of them. They all need to be played and when possible, a couple more squeezed in.
We'll probably go around in circles because I don't expect much to change this year, Richmond is year 1 into a rebuild and Yze hasnt had close to a good run in terms of selecting a team. He's picking who's available not who he wants to play, and when he does pick them, they're coming back from injury.Inexperience isn't necessarily the same as playing under 23s though.

So essentially gibcus rioli and brown, with brown only 5 games and his third season, and gibcus very speculative injury prone player as well. Not hard if you know them.
