Yep, but I’d still call their strategy an overall success.

We’ll see how long it’ll last, but it’s done them a whole lot of good for such a long time
It's a success based upon two massive trades - Dangerfield and Cameron.

And both of these blokes were attracted by the prospect of a rural fishing village lifestyle, not by any great distinctive strength of the Geelong FC itself.

Zach Tuohy was also a very good pick up, but not ladder-defining.

Interesting both shit the bed in finals more often than not.

And so were most other players they got in the last 15 years if this board is to be believed.

We’re all waiting for their downfall, but the reality is that the constant flow of B grade and above players is why they’re almost always competitive.
keep waiting, theyre protected by the cfl and had the rules changed for them by their ceo

very true
plus the fact they fleeced Adelaide in the trade to obtain Danger

But it’s not only the star players that made them so competitive. You also need role players like Luke Dalhaus, Oliver Henry, and Isaac Smith (who won a Norm Smith medal in 2022).

They slowly turn over their list by taking players like this to supplement their star players. Some have short-term use like Shaun Higgins and some have longer use.

It’s a good strategy that’s working out for them. Jeremy Cameron, Dangerfield, and Tuohy alone isn’t why they’re up there.

They’re not the worst drafters with getting players like Dempsey and Holmes in, but I don’t believe their drafting is spectacular. It’s their ability to bring in players from other clubs.

Port Adelaide is another that tends to bring in players.

Drafting is the way to go for dynasties IMO, but I don’t mind Geelong’s strategy either.

That was back when Hocking was at the AFL. I don’t think it’s like that anymore
lol did u miss the stengle od'ing , and the bloke that drove on the other side of the road causing life changing injuries getting off without cfl punishment

shocking still controls the cfl , they are scared of him

They're special pieces of sh*t those Geelong carnts.

In a back room deal, media gimp gobbling Mitch Cleary soft****, Fat hutch media influencing, Dumb as dogshit Dwayne from the paint, AFL commission corrupt, land purchasing, Crime covering, bogan meth head class of their own.

I'd put all of those ferals into a hessin bag and thrown them into the Yarra like they deserve.

End of 100% accurate rant.

on sam davidson at the dogs:

Davidson has surged into round one calculations over the past month, splitting his time between a wing and a mobile tall target in attack across the summer. With Jamarra Ugle-Hagan set to miss the start of the season, ‘Dave-o' – the high school nickname he has returned to – is in the frame to face North Melbourne on March 15 after kicking three goals in Sunday's intra-club, while showcasing his elite gut running capacity in taxing conditions.

smh

I’m still not convinced tbh. For me, it needs to be more apparent than that
I think that the real reason is that the AFL have given up on North to win over supporters in the west of Melbourne. Now they are hoping Geelong Bulldogs and Essendon can do it. I’m sure SHocking would have been pushing Geelongs case when he has inside the AFL. This would also explain why the AFL didn’t seem to care that North sold games to Western Australia. The next team will definitely be in Western Australia and the AFL will sacrifice North to make it happen.
