So the fee for inserting or tapping the debit card are both the same (22c), but if your debit card is in the digital wallet in your phone it's always a credit transaction. I think because it doesn't ask for your PIN because having the device unlocked is the security.

Physical credit card will always be .77% regardless of tap or insert
I don’t have any financial capability on my phone. It’s always unlocked. I have cards or cash.

I'm not totally surprised if businesses start to include a fee for cash transactions as banks are also introducing fees on business accounts where they undertakes face to face transactions at the bank

A previous employer banked with the Commonwealth Bank, and every couple of days we'd take cash takings to the bank - September/October 23, the Comm Bank introduced a limit of 5 free counter transactions per month, which would then see a fee of $5 per transaction after that

My employer had to change how they'd bank the takings as an attempt to eliminate those fees, especially as you'd also visit the bank when needing change etc

So if businesses are starting to notice an impact on their operation costs when accepting cash, I'm not sure it should be surprising if they look to pass on those costs to customers

But then there are people who moan about the 22c for debit card, and go up the road to the bank, line up, withdraw cash, drive back.. like is 22c really worth that effort

For 22c why doesn't the business just factor that into the prices they set and absorb the fee.

It's like people complain about paying $5 for a pie and then 50c for sauce.

Customer wouldn't give a shit if you charged $5.50 for the pie and free sauce.

So why trigger the customer.

Correct.

Not my business I just run the office

Obento sauce bottles with the ring pull lid. Ring is too small for any of my fingers, but using the handle of a fork or spoon just tears the pull apart.

Ended up stabbing it with my sharpest knife.

Garbage product.

Sauce with rice a perfect 7/10 though

and 0.77% for credit card.. so often people will tap their phone and just pay 10, 15, 20 bucks worth of fees without even blinking.
How's that work. 0.77% is only 77c in every $100. You can't tap and go that amount of money to get to those fees.

I wonder why so many people hate the banks. We were forced to have our funds distributed into the bank and they pushed using bank transactions which cost us every single time.

Once people start wising up to meme coins and Crypto can be taken more seriously we can walk away from the banks
But it's ok because for a couple of bucks more a month you can remove those ads.

For now
.
It's the second best deal in town.

This is what Foxtel did, and their explanation was so we can continue to offer the services we need to include advertising. The Simpsons when on Foxtel were plagued with ads. On top of that, you watch your favorite shows/movies and stupid product placement during the show ruins the scene.

So that's the cost of doing business. Just include it in the friggin price.

It's like Ticketmaster handling fees etc, a complete croc of shit.

Handling fees are a relic of when we paid an actual human to handle the transaction. Now a computer does it for a fraction of a cent and Ticketmaster calls it ten bucks.

I agree totally what you say, everyone buys tickets online (I assume) these days, and Parasite agents have no need to pay employees anymore (for all intents and purposes) yet jacked up their processing fees

And I get roasted for preferring communism over capitalism as a preferred major democratic system of government

I won't take this slander. Mods. Ban him.

My local bakery has included sauce since day 1 of opening, factor it into your prices and you’ll make money from all those who don’t want sauce.

When my dad was running his business he always felt the extra money he made by having eftpos far outweighed the transaction fees. That was back in the day when the only people who charged were if it was under $10.

Now businesses expect you to tap and go and charge you for the privilege.

I guess you're more of an Elias.....sorry.............Elijah fan.

I love it when the young ones hold out the EFTPOS machine and you've been sitting there with a note in your hand extended, the entire time
It happens to me too because everyone mostly pays by card now.
