No, they were treading water for years. They had 30+ players like Hall and Zieball carrying their midfield a few years ago. At least now they've retired them and the younger guys are leading their midfield stats, that's going to be huge for their future.

West Coast's treading water and still the worst over relying on aged players in the midfield, just rip the band aid off and put youth in.
Wait we have already done that. Sheed and Gaff are no more.

We have Reid Hewett who was injured last season, Hutchinson now who looks good and is only 23. Kelly is the one I'd assume your talking about and no way would we not have him playing midfield. Chesser has been given plenty of opportunity.

Our Midfield is actually quite young. Not sure what you are on about.

What youth hasn't been given a go. You need to watch some more Eagles games.

top 8 i think i ve nailed it this time but subject to change
1. gws (time is now i have gws as winning the flag got to do it 2025 or its a mini rebuild)
2. freo ( see dogs most under rated flying under the radar talented kids applenty)
3. pies (2025 last chance saloon pendles era again all down to injuries but looking bullish ala 2023 about pies)
4. lions ( drop from 2024 but still solid year for lions)
5. dogs ( barring more injurys still good enough flying under radar again)
6. swans ( touch on the slide gone in september but handy in the h and a)
7. cats (as always but 2025 will not be top 4 but another token finasl for cats)
8. hawks ( will be found out in 2025 but still make i think 2026 will be their year for flag at the hawks)

2023 you consistently rolled out one of the oldest B22 in the comp

2024 about middle of the pack

2025 should have been year 1 of the talented but too young years ….. but then you bring in 3 27 year olds

Maybe these days it’s possible to avoid the too young years but there has to be a risk of rebuilding to the middle going that way

David King does not even have Sydney in consideration for the 8 this year, not in the 8 and not in the 3 teams he thinks will be close, so either I am very delusional about Sydney's prospects this year or King is very wrong.
I'm pretty bullish on the Swans. Have their range from 1-6. I think people put way too much stock into the grand final losses narrative. A new voice at head coach will keep the troops fresh and hungry.

See how this turns out.

1. Brisbane
2. Gold Coast
3. Swans
4. Melbourne
5. Collingwood
6. Freo
7.Hawks
8 North
9 St Kilda
10 Port
11 Geelong
12 Crows
13 Essendon
14 Bulldogs
15 GWS
16 Eagles
17 Carlton
18 Richmond

Well to expect the exact same ladder as previous season never happens. There's always one side down the bottom 4 that fires back up to the top.

There's always a few surprises each season. Kangas will be a lot better. Much better structure and one of their main weaknesses was relying on just Larky to be the main focus. Darling will be a good addition to Kangaroos structure. Midfield is elite and backline seems pretty solid.
Also has one of the best rucks. If the forwards can fire then the sky is there limit.

If Kangas start believing and playing to their strength potentially top 8 isn't out of the question. The cattle are there now and it's time for the youth in the list to step up.

Having a fit key defender for some of the year would be nice, but top eight is crazy. And Daniel could free up Sheezel and McKercher to try to be more damaging.

North should be considerably better, but being a hell of a lot better may not be enough to result in wins. North were just that far off the second worst level of teams last year, even in the post-bye when things improved, the gap to even 15th is probably too much. I can't see a way out of bottom four. Anything from 2 to 5 wins but with better percentage.

It would be good for you guys if that happens, but geez Daniel looked pretty cooked last year
