So there were 26 named tonight, meaning after adding those 8 listed above and not Inc Clarke and Lefau, it’s 34 players so 11 players have to come out.

I won’t list all 11… there’s a few really obvious ones, but there’s really no need to panic that complete spuds are going to be playing regularly after the bye.

What about Short, he supposedly had a DE of 84% yet his 21 kicks 749 metres gained and 8 inside 50's still only resulted in 1 goal assist. He is a long kick but he does not find players on their own or does not kick to the advantage of our forwards (as the GA's stats highlight). When he is running past player receiving easy handballs and kicking under relatively little pressure, he needs to be hitting targets not just kicking long to contests, especially when we are so poor at defending turnovers. What is the value of Shorts metres gained. Let Smith or Banks or Brown try playing that role and see if they can actually hit a target.

If Smillie and Lalor are fit for round one, then it makes no sense for a rebuilding side to be playing someone like McIntosh in the midfield.

Yep, I don’t get it and never will. He won a lot of the ball, but when you commit 10 clangers what’s the point? McAuliffe got 8 touches in 15% game time. … he could’ve had another 60-minutes of footy to press his case for round 1. Alas, he probably won’t get selected and we will have to watch Macca turn the ball over a dozen times again round 1.

Literally all 3 a good chunk of pundits here have been saying this for 18 months. Its not even Round 1 & its still bloody obvious.

No matter how much the may possibly have nailed this draft, not getting some better top up players to help support these kids is total negligence for me. You can't learn much when your trying to survive in chaos.

Don’t worry, unless they start playing quality footy they won’t be part of the team moving forward. There’s 8 x first-23 locks who didn’t play tonight. That doesn’t include Lefau, J Clarke or Faull.

So there’s 11 players, plus a couple of top-6 draft picks next year making 13.

We will be seeing some spuds until after the bye when we get half a dozen players fit and back from injury and some young kids from VFL development.
