I thought Pedlar was the best he has looked.... ever. Really covering the ground, created a link through half forward and looked dangerous.

Might be a great sub.

Milera should come in for Laird.
Totally agree with Pedlar, his last 2 weeks have jumped him up massively. He looks really fit for the first time and has genuine power and speed. Last year I was close to writing him off but watching him last week especially was really encouraging.

I’m not sold on Milera at this point though, and after seeing Bond do such a good job on Cameron I would be playing Max and Nank (who was really exciting last night) further up the ground instead of Laird and Milera, and keep Bond in the Luke Brown role.

Tex will be exposed defensively without Murphy doing all of his dirty work (badly)
Keeping shape was code for Murphy and Ned doing all the chasing Tex can't do.
Love the Texan though.
Keays & ANB cover more ground than Murphy ever did!

He had stints on the wing as well. I think folks are expecting too much of him in a forward line already stacked with fog Tex and Thilthorpe. He will shine, just a matter of time.
Agree. His game in Pirie was really good and last week he was OK. Even Fog, Tex and Tilly struggled at times to get involved last night with only 50 inside 50’s and 4 talls, so we obviously can’t just play him as just a fourth tall forward and expect him to star. He’s only had 1 year of footy and is 197cm, it will take time, but get him around the ball for 20 to 30% of the time and the rest forward for 20 games and we will see an absolute jet evolve.

Curtin is actually really suited to the link up half forward role but it’s always going to be an awkward balance when we already have three tall forwards.

We just need to be patient with him. IMO he’s the immensely talented, more agile Tex replacement we need, he’s just arrived at that role a year too early. I still ultimately think he’s a Dawson clone, so eventually integrating himself into the midfield would be the even longer run.

Basic stats show time on ground etc

Advanced stats score involvements etc

Team stats show both teams basic stats.

Why we cop it for celebrating and Hawthorn carry on like pork chops after every goal and everyone loves it..... I'll never understand
It was hardly even a celebration - he raised his hands in the air and hi-fived one player. The bloody over reaction is bewildering!

Was my first look at Curtin live and I have to say I was underwhelmed. For a big body he doesn’t attack the contest strongly or early enough and for someone with big wraps on his kicking the few touches he had didn’t hit the mark. Doesn’t offer much by way of pressure. Just one match but hoping for more confidence, presence and ultimately impact from him. Right now if it was him or Draper or him or Nankervis I know where my vote would go.

To me he unfortunately looks totally lost out there. He’s following instructions obviously but it appears he’s at odds with it.

Should be given all the time in the world, might take 2-3 more years for him to really come alive. We have to keep pumping games into him.

There's not enough football to go around for Thilthorpe, Fogarty, Walker and Curtin to all succeed up forward. Someone will get ignored, or end up doing the unrewarded running to clear space for others.

Structure-wise hopefully we encourage Curtin into that mythical high half forward role, pushing up to the stoppages. Because he can actually play, this would become an asset.
He looked confused last night. Which is not a good sign given recent experience.

I don't mean that as a problem of his doing, rather the coaches.

I can't believe some of the social media posts this morning and last night about the way some of our players reacted when the siren went. Josh Worrell copping it a bit too. its just a natural thing to some players. Worrell seems like a competitive player and a passionate player and it showed when he kicked that goal and when the siren went. trial game yes but there were a lot of great signs. some of the turn overs were frustrating and i am still a tad concerned about our KPD's but mids and forward line i am very happy with. No excuses this year.
You read social media and took it to heart, that was your mistake.

That media stuff was BS. Worrell celebrated for about 1 second after a tight finish. It was a North Melbourne player that tweeted it first I think. What a dweeb. He should concentrate on helping his team win more than 4 games this season rather than being a DH.
Sheetal I think.
