Probably fair to say this decision follows a long trend from Nicks - he’s never been a big fan of Butts, used to be the first he’d drop and then would play a totally undersized defence with Doedee at 187cm playing on 195cm key forwards and other times when picked Nicks would always look to sub him out in the last 2 quarters.

So fair to say Nicks don’t like Big Butts and he cannot lie…

Butts played 73 games under Nicks?

It's more as time has gone on, Butts has fallen out of favour (especially as Murray usurped him as the shutdown defender) and not Nicks' wasn't a fan.

Worrell will be employed working between Larkey and Darling.

Hopefully Borlase won't be found out, one out to often.

IMO Borlase tends to look gassed very quickly. Is decent overhead and 1-1 marking, but his running capacity and closing tackling speed is not fantastic, for a guy who's only 192cm. Defence is where we looked shaky last week, Worrell with a few uncharacteristic errors and Keane not having the best of times... our mids will need to keep it out of there.
Bombers scored 15.10 from only 48 I50 entries last week... and Kangas were great out of the middle last week too and finished their game 19.10 from only 53 entries...

This game has danger written all over it.

A coach can play someone they don’t particularly rate due to a dearth of other options on the list, Nicks may have played him in those games but like I explained when he’s had a chance to not play him or sub him even when he has been fit he has chosen on more than a few occasions to take him out the team.

Interesting who I actually would trust one-on-one with Larkey more, Borlase or Keane?… not overly confident with either but Borlase at least has more strength and a better reach.
Borlase's biggest weakness is flailing hopelessly behind a leading forward and waving his hands in the air in frustration.
Do not let him get in this situation.

Borlase instead of Butts
OK, thanks.
I quite like Butts but he holds up play; seems not to think or act quickly footy-wise.

If Borlase could play like his upper body looks, he'd win a Brownlow. Always struck me as an under-performer and not great one-on-one.
It's a danger game, even moreso with Murray out.

As for "aiming for Nicks" he's definitely still in my cross-hairs.
We've recruited strongly; really bolstered the list and at least 5 of our better players (including the brilliant Dawson and freakishly good Rankine) have not been developed by Nicks.
From what I've gathered about Balme and Davis, they are helping a lot tactically (Davis especially with the forward line).
Burgess is one of the best @ fitness, yet we still have Nicks as "Head Coach".
Co-ordinator, more like, if that :(.
