Nah they are good. Not sure they are top 6 good, but top 8 likely. They are #4 for scores off turnovers and if its one thing we do well it's turn the ball over. If we don't defend at a high level it'll play out with a 10 goal loss.
Yes they are probably top 8 good but we should be able to stay in the game with a top 8 side at a neutral venue, you'd hope.
Right now it's hard to say if we've improved at all, so who knows...

Well we'll see. Need to be competitive, but fair to say I'm worried with our defense keeping a team under 100 pts.
Well I guess at least getting a win in Round 2 is an improvement on waiting until Round 13 like last year.

I am still being optimistic (God knows why) and think we can be 4:6 after 10 rounds, with wins over 3 of Carlton, Essendon, Richmond or Port.

We couldn't stay within 10 goals of an injury hit top 8 team at home.....

It is hard to say just yet, but last weekend was so bloody deflating

If we play like we did last week, we’re no hope.

If we play like we did the first three weeks, we’re a chance.

Get bloody Payne in, tell him and Konstanty to terrify the opposition or back to the magoos forever. If we are going to dump kick, get Maley in. At least he can take a pack mark.

These campaigners are so beatable, remember the Harley Reid cup???

I think the problem is the required standard, and the fact that our required-standard games are inevitably statistical outliers.

We need, on a regular basis:
1) Midfielders to apply real pressure (ie. hauling arse to get within touching distance of ball-carrier)
2) Defenders/transition players to work out who flies for a contest and who stays down
3) The umpires to not fist us in the arse
4) All forwards to harass the ball carrier in our forward half
5) Skill errors from the 45 corridor kick (vitally important to the way we move the ball atm) at half-back to be kept to a minimum
6) All forwards to lead up at the ball carrier instead of away from him
7) To look and sum up the situation before we kick it inside 50
8) All players at stoppage to work out who holds width at the stoppage and who goes in as a ball-hunter

In an average North game, I'd say two-three of these happen to a satisfactory standard. And often, one of those is the umps having an ok performance. You just wonder where any form of consistency will come from. Before tonight, I felt a bit ginger about next week. Now I just feel dread
You would imagine that this is pretty basic stuff for an AFL footballer, especially those who have been in the system for a few years. But for us, it seems like an impossible dream.
