But the board should be asking questions like is the dept adequately resourced, why does the football dept believe progress has stalled, right people in right places (hint: start off with Rawling; Brady).

Certainly not. However we should not turn a blind eye to what has happened to our club in the past 5 years. The current Board and the Executive came to power on the basis that they would turn around the demise of our club. At this point in time that has not happened and that sits with Sonia, her Board and the Executive led by Jen Watt. The buck ultimately stops with aforementioned and Board.

Cos that's been the one constant since we went to shit. Its not the list manager. its not that the players are shit. the only stability they've had is losing. They need something else. Even tho its his third season, its the first one he has had without some other shit going on. And the only full season he saw was last season.

Last year they started the preseason with Thomas as an integral part of the whole thing. He stopped training with the side in January and was officially not part of it over a month later. So it wasn't even a proper pre season without starting again from scratch about a month before the season started ... and all the other Hawthorn shit was happening as well.

So after this season....

One season with the sort of clear air we thought we'd start 2023 with when we signed him?

(Even then he got a five year contract cos the board acknowledged it would years to get things back on track.)

Then what? The players start again with all the baggage that entails, some **** off, some retire and all of them stay in the same cycle of changing coaches and losing games that they've been in for the whole decade. Every time we change the coach this decade we've gone struggled the next season and they have to do it again.

If you think I'm being nasty suggesting you and other people are tripping for deciding to change things now ... again.

If board decides this less than 3 years into a 5 year commitment, starting from a ground 0 rebuild, then they have to resign also for getting the appointment so wrong.

But I think this notion of "stability" only goes so far. It's already a completely different place now to when he first joined, and he (and Viney etc) deserve massive credit for that. But we're now in a place where we have pretty much got every key player signed up long term, a bunch of talented kids, experience from other clubs, a functioning VFL team etc. The important pieces now aren't really the ones who have played under a dozen other coaches - if he's not the right coach now then I don't think he should stay just for some notion of stability or because he's only in year three or whatever.

There is enough talent on the list to not still be serving up garbage like the last month.

From the outside, it looks like soft players who don’t give a ****. I don’t think it’s that.

Is it an accountability issue? A training issue? A cultural issue? A leadership issue? A tactical issue? Some combination of these? Is it just going gthrough the inevitable smashing with young players.

Hopefully the board can work with the football dept to come up with some systematic process to figure it out if this season goes to shit.

But Clarkson will be the coach for whatever changes are implemented, as he should be, until at least end of 2027.

But is there enough talent? Or is there any of the right talent? Or is the mix all wrong?

We have a midfield that is one paced and can’t defend

We have just paid huge dollars for an A grader who is a B grader at best (commentary already this weekend have talked about how he isn’t a patch on Rowell - as one example)

Our defence is poor - we don’t have one key defender who would get a game in any other team

We have Curtis as our only mid sized (and decent) fwd

Larkeys results are masked by his accuracy, and he is beaten by any physical defender

Zurhaar is a pretend hard man who goes when it suits

The rest of our list are soft outside mid paced runners

Clarko and co. Have tried to bring senior players in to support but I worry that it is too little, too late to fix the mess that we have created

Naess is our performance psychologist. According my to her LinkedIn “my work as a performance psychologist with AFL players is about mindset, resilience, and unlocking peak performance”.

Johnson is a leadership consultant with the club, played a big part in picking out the 3 player leadership team. Also does a heap of holistic methods like breath work, mindfulness training and all that stuff.

The resilience of the playing group and leadership is as poor as it’s ever been so I think that in itself is a pretty poor reflection on those two.

Put a few dot points on the board for the AFL team to remind themselves.

• X amount of wins.
• Percentage higher than X.
• Improvement in key player performances from all areas of the ground.

That's literally it. Put a target on these idiots because we're all ****ing sick and tired.

They asked us to back in the club to rebuild in 2016, we did. They asked us again in 2020, we did. They asked us to show up when we were catastrophically awful in 2022, we did. They asked us to keep fronting up in one helluva losing streak in 2023, we did. They asked us yet again to be patient in 2024 following one of the worst starts to a season and despite finishing poorly, we did.

This club is taking advantage of the most resilient (possibly delusional) supporters by spitting in their faces when the players put in a piss weak effort. How dare they? Unforgivable.
