The ALP are having a real laugh over this. I live in Ley's electorate, and she is the most ineffective fool of a politician. Completely self-serving and disappears when any trouble emerges. A few years back, after she misused public money and had to step down from the cabinet, she was going to be dropped from pre-selection. She copied the Kelly strategy and started a private bill about the treatment of sheep. This was to embarrass the LNP. The bill was dropped when they allowed her back in. BTW her primary vote had an 8.7% swing against her.

and she's not a good media performer and frankly quite thick.

From the aviation community-

She first wanted to be a commercial pilot, but couldn’t get any position higher than aerial mustering on a station. Wasn’t good enough to get into an airline.

Then trained as an Air Traffic Controller but failed the training course. Eventually just went to work on her husband’s farm.

Of course cried “sexism!”, and not denying that was an issue at the time, but internal chatter was that it was her competence not her gender that led to her failed aviation career

But but she has a vagina, so all women will vote for her.

/LNP Male thinking.

And as Environment minister she buried a damning National Environmental report for 6 months for electoral purposes.

I thought May 3 was the biggest disaster in Australia this year, but Ley has just said "hold my beer". The Libs are now doomed, we need a Nigel Farrage type here and fast (we don't have anyone with the guts) before Albo and his cronies completely wreck the joint over the next three years. Australia is in a sad state of affairs and the only hope the Libs have is that Jacinta has a crack at Ley sooner rather than later. What a mess, it's worse than a Bowen commentary on Climate!

The independent running against her seemed alright. Wanting to give Indigenous communities a "voice" in water policy is guaranteed to piss off plenty of conservative blowhards. Though I don't understand how a locally controlled immigration policy would work.

Cope harder bro 😆

Although I agree with you in making Price leader, with Ley the Libs have a minuscule shot of maybe making some progress back towards government.

With Price as Lib leader we can look forward to the ALP with 100+ seats, full Senate control, governing til at least 2040 and every State government ALP.

How glorious would that be! 😆

What are the current Lib rules regarding leadership challenges? Didn't Morrison change them?
I think you need like 75% of the party room instead of 51% or something. It'll make it hard for Ley to be axed unless she steps down from pressure or the entire room decides to knife her.

Her losing those 3 votes in the senate doesn't really mean anything

Everything she did as environment minister was self-seeking. The only time she ever engaged with the BOM was for photo ops. However she was not the worst environment minister, that belongs to Melissa Price - who literally did nothing - never bothered meeting the director of the BOM during her tenure.

Actually I just checked and apparently that only applies to a Lib leader who wins a Federal election, so it will be open season from here on in the Lib party room by the looks

Hard - but the role is basically untenable if most of your colleagues want you gone.

Just brilliant. You copied the type of post made by a raging looney right winger who has no idea. You got the tone just right.

Excellent satire.

Oh that's hilarious. She will not make the election

It is a balance in this type of electorate. The farmers still want a cheap workforce. Plenty of right-wing churches also. But such a safe seat should have a better representative. I can feel plenty of fun for the cartoonist in the air, hell, I might even do one myself. See, she is an inspiration.

Not a great outcome for the environment or people living in poverty. Labor are a center right party now.

It is. But it also says something about ScoMo that he changed the rules to protect just some leaders (like him).

(I use the word leader with reticence.)
It was all about self preservation. He would have been axed in Hawaii if he didn't bring that rule in

Have they started white anting her yet?

It might happen as soon as July. It's insane that the outgoing Senators get a vote, incoming Senators don't, and there are still a few HoR seats undeclared that they're still in the running for. And it ended up a 4 vote difference.

Sky daytime already writing her off

Let’s wait to see the verdict on Sky After Dark tonight where I guess they will probably savage her from day one

This. She didn't win by much and 3 of her votes are senators about to leave. Opposition within the party will be plotting already.
She’ll need to sleep with one eye open, and keep one hand behind her back, ready for the knifing that will inevitably come.
