Albury had a pretty good era in the O&M winning 7 flags in 10 years.
O’hailpin brothers
Dean Polo
Chris Hyde
Daniel Cross
To name a few. Was a very hard team to beat in that era

Don’t know what to make of this Division!
Week to week form varies for most teams, injuries, lack of depth.
At this stage, it’s looks like it will be a very exciting end of H & A games with relegation.
We could have, just looking at the ladders right now, Doves dropping to Div 3 & Cranny dropping to Div 2!
Would not have believed this could happen a couple of years ago.

Only 1 game seperating top to bottom 5 rounds in is something very rarely seen in any competition, and HQ would be rapt with that. Looking at it though Doveton do look like they are in strife with the reserves being so poor and depth an issue if the winter does eventually arrive in June /july. I see Coach Stapleton played yesterday … and a question for the posters here who know abit about Doveton, hypothetically- if relegated how will they go attracting a new coach and players ? Salary drops and they have been paying big to win divi 2 , do they go all out and try win divi 3 in first season like they promised to do when they first arrived in divi 2? They’ve had a good 3 seasons spending large prior to this season so money won’t be an issue by the looks

They definitely would go all out to get straight back into div2 as it would be the most embarrassing thing ever for the club in there history as some people there that run and supporttthe club i have had to listened to them for years put down the sfnl and as you said they were thought they would be in Div 1 when coming in at first and were filthy they had to start in Div 2 and as you said they made big statements they would only be in div2 one year but it’s a old area with lots of migrants now so no kids coming through from e/ hils either who they got many good players from in the past from there juniors and it will be really hard for them to attract players and a good coach in Div 3 with guys that would rather play in higher divisions at Narre or hp springy cranny plus a few other sfnl clubs around plus other clubs in different leagues

Well your dream may come true with the starting up of Football Southern Bayside with all these potential new clubs.
Mind you with any new clubs that may come into any competition you may lose a few along the way hopefully that doesn’t happen.
I feel ashwood may put in again to swap leagues again so may loose them.
Can't see anyone else leaving.
Dandenong/Masala would benefit in southern same with chadstone.

Alot of those teams are school boy related so they believe they belong in the school boys league.
The only teams that would leave vafa would be the teams not associated with a private school.

And more need to think about it

SNFL teams are looking at VAFA players in high Prem C/low Prem B so if Ormond go up this year, you can expect the SNFL teams with money to come calling.

This would be disappointing as Ormond have such a good young list.

Ashwood not big enough or stable enough of a club to move to EFL. They’ll fold and it’ll be a bad look for EFL.

There are 2 teams towards the bottom of the VAFA who want to move to southern.

Which clubs? Nothing stopping them as the VAFA have always been very open to facilitating moves for clubs who want to go.

I understand that Ashwood still keen on a move to the EFL and see themselves as an Eastern suburbs rather than Southern suburbs club. They want to shore up their junior program but believe in the long run that it will help with player retention and attraction. SFNL nothing like it as when the ESC and SESFL merged and Ashwood now a bit of an outlier in that part of the world.

I heard Eley park (might be EFL actually) and St. Johns to southern

Ashwood have 1 jnr team left.
They have a lot of work to do if they are focusing on there jnr program. Also strapped for cash. You need cash and juniors to survive in EFL.

St.John’s ?
May aswell merge with Keysborough as earlier stated. Keysy struggling and St.Johns are the superannuation fund for keysy yesteryear elders (don’t debate they are vafa and don’t pay etc etc ) 2 birds 1 stone and just merge and sure up Keysy would be the best bet.
Ormond - should definitely consider the move. As most local south east amateur clubs, going nowhere in the vafa system.

No local clubs are

Give it a rest Bedford you're coming across as a real sook
He's acting like no other teams try and recruit players with offering money. That's literally how you recruit. VAFA people just make themselves sounds more holy than everyone else because they'll find other financial ways to recruit without handing over money directly into a bank account.

That doesn't happen in VAFA Div 1.

You are confusing the top Prem A clubs with lower division levels where clubs are run off the smell of an oily rag and players stay at the club out of a sense of mateship for the other players.

$400 a game is hard for any player to knock back. Almost $10,000 in the "skyrocket" for playing footy. That is why lower level VAFA teams are thinking of moving to SNFL or EDL or the Northern League. Just so they can have a level playing field.

Not at all , it happens everywhere , was just stating that they have 3 of ours , can't be stopped , unless leave the vafa

Your actually correct. It’s why stjohns want to move to SFL. clubs want to start paying players to get them in.
box hill north the same. Want to pay
Money is becoming so big in local football

Correct on Ashwood juniors. They have been trying to establish juniors but lots of established clubs nearby plus a changing demographic in the Mt Waverley area has made things challenging. EFL a consideration as some believe it will aid player retention and attraction based on where they are located. So many clubs in that area have disappeared over the last few decades so good on them for looking at alternatives to keep them viable. Very tough for clubs in areas with ageing and changing demographics.

Whilst I agree with what u are saying , keep in mind that Mt Waverley blues who are a rock throw away in mtwaverley are thriving. 14 Jnr teams including girls and a strong u 19s.
Ashwood had a talented u16s last yr and then lost there best players to De La in the ammos. This hurts the club big time and u gotta ask why this keeps happening

I think blaming the demographic is a little lazy at times

It’s how u build your club that matters
Good on them for looking at options but gotta focus on stability of your club first don’t u?
