Love the freooooo chant from fremantle supporters at the game. You could hear on the tv. Well done.
There were sooooo many of us at the game. As a long term east coast non vic based supporter I don't think I can recall seeing that many of us at a regular season away game since the 2014 game against Sydney. Was awesome to be there and see all the Freo folks.

And my apologies to the bloke in the row of Freo fans behind me who called the game at 3 minutes into the last quarter, I shouldn't have warned you not to jinx us, you had it right all day...

Longmuir still needs to go, but geez we have a talented and young list, just look so much better when the likes of Simpson, Raz and Duds are starting games instead of coaches favourites like JOM/Banfield.

And what a great rookie pickup Reid has turned out to be...

The big caveat on this for me is that we have often looked fantastic when the opposition are having an off day with their pressure around the ball.
GWS are a bit of an enigma and we certainly got them on a good day yesterday.

I won’t be changing my opinion on JL, and specifically his game style, until I see it successfully implemented against a decent side who is bringing intense pressure on our possession chains. It actually needs to happen 2 or 3 big games in a row to be honest.

A separate issue, but equally important is our own level of effort and pressure. Will it be there next week and the week after to a similar level? The coach is also partly responsible for that even if it’s equally on the players to bring effort.

We have seen this group of players gulping down litres of their own bathwater all week long after a decent victory, so many times now in the last few years that’s it’s gotten ridiculous.

I’m fully expecting Schmooky to dust off his stock standard “Freo rediscover their mojo” article that he normally rolls out on the Monday or Tuesday after a good dockers win on AFL.com.au

It’s normally followed up with a putrid effort in a game we should win (see port Adelaide next weekend).

The question is can we go on a decent run now and win the 4 or 5 games required over the next few weeks to get back into finals contention? And win the trust back of the fans?

A few times against Collingwood you could see Simpson hasn't really built strong enough yet to be a one vs one defender against the likes of Schultz and McReery who could shrug him off or bust through his tackles.

His defensive work was much better yesterday but as Dermott Brereton mentioned it in the last quarter Simpson was opposed to one of the GWS youngsters in the last part of the game, and I think on Darcy Jones earlier in the game - so it was kind of like for like.

The big plus was his ball use in both games. I expect there'll be a bit of time to get through where its a balance of opinion as to whether he's a lock there based on what he gives offensively vs the times when he loses a couple of critical contests as a defender. I kind of felt the same way about Corey Wagner's role over the last year, although recently he's shown to be very dogged in his 1vs 1 defending.

Also think like Wagner has, Simpson at half-back can use that position as a platform to eventually rotate through the midfield.

Most encouraging for me is his decision making in defending seems to be coming along leaps and bounds. It was really noticeable the last game he played for Peel how fewer mistakes he was making and its really what's going to decide if he basically never plays WAFL again.

Really excited for where he goes from here

For some reason, even though I know he's a right footer, almost every time he sets up for a kick I think Simpson is going to kick with his left. I'm thinking maybe it's the way he holds the ball.

To be entirely fair Keli upsets a lot of people because she's the wrong gender...

It's not because she's the wrong gender, it's because she's a token.

Nobody can seriously believe she's one of the best 20 commentators in the country. She only has a job because of her gender. She's literally only there to stop the AFL getting sued.

Yeah but...
Say Darcy comes back all primed up from the WAFL...is clearly ( or arguably) the in form #1 ruck?
You don't say "we only need one" and move LJ out, do you?
All successful teams are built around the talent they have.
You don't trade out either unless you get more in return.
Which is not the same as we only need one, get rid.
If you want to get Kozzy Pickett in, you probably do. There is an imbalance on the amount of salary cap this club has designated to ruckmen.

Firstly, that’s a huge “if” that Darcy comes back the same, it’s more likely he won’t.

Collingwood made the decision to move arguably the best ruckman in the comp on in Grundy, because they had Darcy Cameron, it won them a flag.

Only one of the two can be the starting ruckman. My opinion is that guy is Jackson… something has to give, and an injury prone Darcy is t he way I would go.

Simpson is an absolute weapon with his kicking from half back.
I thought all the backs were good yesterday. Ryan played with real desperation & Cox seemed to find his composure and some decent effort again.
Jordy is a star & Chappy is starting to look himself too.
Between Simpson, Clark and Wagner if you were to rank them for run and damage ball in hand I'd have Clark 3rd. Which is super surprising. I think Clark has been our best all-round defender over the last 3yrs but I'm still waiting for him to scythe through the defence. Clark is such a beast in the contest you really wonder if he could play mid

Watching for a second time, Simpson was even better than I first thought. Some superb kicking broke up the GWS zone multiple times. More of that please!
What's noteworthy is he's only played a handful of games at HBF for Peel so he's still really green in the role, and yet he can come into the senior side and immediately slot in against seasoned opposition. Says a lot about the young fella. I thought he'd have to get settled at Peel first before eventually being brought in towards the end of the year but he's jumped ahead on the timeline considerably.

Her voice is no more irritating than Mark Howard's, a bloke who should also be nowhere near footy commentating, but she makes so many bad errors and calls the wrong player's name more than any commentator I've listened to. I used to give her the benefit of the doubt because she was solid at her radio gig but she's just not good at her job. Playing the gender card is weak. There is lots of love here for people like Daisy Pearce who is genuinely knowledgable.
