Sos doing sos things
The guy is a fraud and has ruined 2 lists and onto his hat trick now but must say nobody expected the $1.7 x 7 for TDK
and that has blown carlton out the window
It's some of stupidest list management I've ever seen but all the Sainters seem to be behind it so I guess at worst they'll get a boost in membership sales

Doesn’t work like that we have been banking salary cap buy paying below the cap floor. For the first two years of tdk contract we are allowed to pay 105% salary cap which means we will massively front load his first 2 years, for the rest of his deal the money will not be anything crazy at all !
Yep that's what we did with Williams and Saad. Guess what? Williams contract is still a disaster to this day and it's still not over.

1.7 mil a year for a ruck is a recipe for disaster

I see you are slowly distancing yourself from Tom just as you were in 2023 when he was under-performing and a lot of Carlton fans wanted him traded :tearsofjoy:
No, I'd love to keep TDK. Fantastic player that balances out our midfield a bit when he's up and going.

But I certainly wouldn't be paying him 1.7mil a year, thats a sure way to nuke ur list before it even got going.

Get Marshall salary off the books and get a pick and next year go Ben King
there you go
Marshal is not even on big money when you consider the level of player he is at his position which is elite I would argue his a better all round player currently t than tdk ! It’s a sideways move if you bring in one and lose the other, The chances of Ben king leaving is extremely slim he stuck a
around when the suns were a basket case why would he leave now !

Your comparing Williams to tdk as players absolutely ridiculous, Williams was a alright player made to look better by being in a very good side at gws - tdk is just entering his prime were for the next 4-5 seasons will be one off the premier bigs in the competition

Surprising.

Could be a scenario of

Cameron to WCE
Marshall to Collingwood
De Koning to St Kilda
Carlton crying in the corner
Better to be in the corner, than the bottom of a well…

If there really is a 7 year contract at 1.8 mill on the table then one club or the other is ruined.

I can't believe any club would pay that, for that length of time.

Grundy looms large, we hurt the blokes career by being too generous. We lost, Melbourne lost, poor Grundy has been slung around like an albatross.

The only winner is the player manager here. Absolutely cursed state of affairs.

"The market determines value" no there's a cap, and player managers have stables they leverage. We joke about Silvagnis revenge but frankly that's plausible. It's not market forces.

Some people at my club still vilify Grundy, the resentment is understandable but misdirected. He was about 25 when we decided to grossly overpay him.

TDK will very likely end up disliked by whatever club can afford him because of this.

Beaut young player but massively over rated.

We have to overpay because there is a long history of players not wanting to join us.

It's not that complicated. The main reason we're still in the hunt for TDK is because of the crazy money we're throwing. If we'd offered the same wage as Carlton do you think he'd consider leaving? Of course not.

Whether or not this deal happens, or works out if it does, will remain to be seen.

I appreciate clubs are in a bind, and off-field money matters despite the cap. I certainly don't blame St Kilda for this situation.

True enough but if the choice is between 4 million dollars or being liked by a bunch of football fans I think thats a easy choice. The sound of my Ferrari as it swings around the corner will drown out the boos anyway

Honestly hope we do not offer him $1mill a year as he isn't worth that, so if Saints want to pay $1.7m for him then I hope he goes

You would hope he has several more levels to go to if St Kilda are offering what they are. He will be the highest paid player in the game comfortably and he'd be lucky to be a top 5 ruck at the moment.
