Happy to stick my neck out here and call it as I say see it.

I do not see a single AFL trait with Archie May. I'm genuinely shocked with the level of press around him leading up to the MSD.

If he makes it, it won't be the first time I've gotten one wrong, but I really don't see an AFL level talent there.

Is he also less of a consideration for us given Shotgun is showing more as a KPF than as a KPD?

Maybe getting more than 20 disposals more than once in the last 2.5 seasons at VFL level might get him closer to Dylan Moore also.

I dunno, he’s a 1 in a 100 at his size. Hes hardly putting up Shaun Mannagh VFL numbers…

He’s having his break out VFL season and it’s 15 touches and a goal a game…

Cooper Harvey is averaging 13 touches and 2.5 goals per game…

If people want another Ned Long it’s probably Joel Trudgeon.

Hes not flashy by any means, but 23 years old, 32 touches a game, 7 tackles and almost 9 clearances per game…

I'm probably driving the Banch bus so worth commenting.

It's the role he's playing and AFL-level traits he's showing within that - sometimes for a game, sometimes a couple of moments that are impressive for me. If you're looking straight up for production and counting stats over the course of a season, you're going to miss the agility, the attack on the ball and man, the game where he had 7 (or 8?) direct goal assists, how clean he is handling the ball, his flexibility role-wise as a forward.

It's like watching FO'S this year. The stats aren't there but if you've watched what he's done then you can see there's a player there. Ditto someone like Kysaiah Pickett in his draft year where he barely averaged 12 touches and struggled to get near a goal a game.

Your post focuses on pure basic stats. Joel Trudgeon can't kick, is slow and can only play one position - the stats on the page look impressive but he's not AFL calibre. Ditto Dom Brew who I love but only for VFL level.

Not saying Banch is a guarantee to make it but it's the MSD and we're throwing darts, I reckon he's worth the throw just as much as anyone.

I reckon at our second pick there will be plenty of decent small forwards if we want (szekely, raso, toner, banch)

Which is why getting May our first pick is smart

I think Banch will be there. Other clubs are being linked to other players and I haven't seen him be solidly linked to anyone else.

Don't think we'd consider Tomlinson, age profile doesn't exactly fit. Despite him putting up good numbers in the VFL, he still isn't a particularly good one on one defender, which is why he is playing VFL now and not on the dees list.

Would make no sense for us. If May comes in, we might even move Big Shotty back to defence. Going to be land of the giants.

With pick 2, Archer May, unless West Coast take him. If that happens, I can see a world in which we'd pick up Tom McCarthy.

With our other pick, I reckon we'd go Banch/Raso depending whose available.

Edwards had all the ability just not the desire to play afl with all that entails.
It’s not really a fair comparison to someone who’s travelled half way across the country at 19 in order to give himself the best shot at getting on a list.

I haven’t seen much of May (or any other MSD prospect to be fair)
you’re right though, he’s probably already shown more drive than Edward’s based on heading to subi.
Can’t go wrong with derm as a mentor as well
