I have a suspicion that our form of some of our players is because of the unknown that comes with Wright taking over. A lot are scared they could be gone by seasons end.
Then they should be playing their behinds off to prove they deserve to stay ffs!

If they want to stay, if they don’t, you know, doors, arses!!!

I can only speculate from here as I have no more actual Info than what I've provided.

However do we know what Voss is on, are we sure it's not a large number post the finals run. Then how much is the tax on that if we break the soft cap.

Could the numbers run into the millions, whatever ever the number is maybe their appetite for change isn't worth the number

Anyway, your guess is as good as mine.
Not like he was ever in demand with clubs chasing

Open to moving McKay for a kings ransom. Curnow is untouchable
Same.
Happy for Harry to leave at the right price but no way to Charlie moving. He’s virtually the face of the club. You play with fire if you trade massive fan favourites. They learned that the hard way when trading Fev and Eddie.
Both Charlie and Harry are contracted long term anyway, so we should only move them on if a trade is very suitable to us. I don’t want draft picks either, especially in this years not so good draft. The trade needs to be Established talent for established talent.

If we could get a similar deal to what he’s did for Cameron I’d let curnow go. Rather 3 good players instead of 1 great one
But it’s a colossal risk trading Charlie.
He is more than just a player, he’s the face of the club, and is especially a shining light for the thousands of kids who haven’t had jack to celebrate in recent times. I’ve lived thus first hand through my boy.
Moving him on, just like trading similar big fan favourite types like Fav and Eddie, will divide the fan base and risk losing a huge number of members. We’re at risk of losing a generation of children anyway because of our on field mediocrity. Trading Charlie would virtually guarantee this.

My boy think Charlie is a total goof ball.

Reckons Harry is better every day of the week!

Bucks took over in 2012 and took a young squad that narrowly lost a grand final backwards every year, until a purple patch in 2018-2019 which came out of nowhere.

By 2021 they were bottom 6.

He wasn’t a very good coach.

But has incredible attributes he could put to use in some capacity.

If the club moved on from Brendan Fevola, they can absolutely manage to move on from Charlie Curnow

Fev was a total train wreck off field who had been given countless chances to ship up, so many understood that while it hurt, we had to move on from him, fan favourite or not.
That’s where there’s a difference between trading Fev and potentially trading Charlie.

Not only are they on long contracts, the contracts are now relatively modest compared what's being thrown around these days.

Were you on here when people wanted to re-draft Feb because he was kicking bags for the Yarrawonga Pigeons?

People moved on when he stopped playing footy.

Right now and probably for the next 2-3 years we are in a position to make a serious assault on a top 4 campaign - but our coaching and list need a bit of a tweak.

If we miss out on a top 4 in this period it'll be another 10 years or so before we get back to playing serious footy.

So do what ever we can to try and bag a flag with most of this current batch of players.

Sharks in the water it seems - other clubs can see the unrest and disharmony at Carlton and will see what juicy morsels they can bite off.

Frankly - I'm kind of past the point of worrying about who might leave. Whoever they are, if they choose to take a deal elsewhere rather than trying to be part of the solution at Carlton, then we're not losing anything critical.

A key forward can be replaced, a ruckman can be replaced. Any player who thinks they aren't in some way personally accountable for the state of our club, who thinks they can just walk into another club and have that club carry them to success irrespective of their own efforts, is dispensable in addition to being delusional.

What are the missing pieces to making Voss's football philosophy translate into more wins than losses?

The major criticisms seem to be that the observed playing style of the team lacks legs speed, decision making, and co-ordinated execution especially in two areas transitioning from defensive fifty to forward fifty and kicking to advantage into the forward fifty.

Can Voss ( or any coach) improve the leg speed of any player(s) or the team as a whole ?
Can Voss ( or any coach ) improve the kicking ability of the players available at any point in time?
Can Voss ( or any coach) improve the decision making of the collective and if so by how much?

Does a change in coach ( football philosophy/ game plan) given current players/list and the constraints that imposes on the execution of the new game plan philosophy lead to a likely improved W/L ratio? Why?

I see a lot of statistics which point to top4 performance from the team week in week out and we all see and enjoy the frustration of wasted entries into the forward fifty - week in week out.

Is improvement in W/L more easily achieved by fixing that last point and if so - what are the potential fixes and requisite resource implications?

Is it as simple as improving decision making which leads to better execution of team play and (perhaps) finding one or two better decision makers whose skill set better aligns with what to do with the ball in hand when considering best entry into forward fifty?

I think fixing this is likely to be an easier way to achieve significant improvement - than throwing everything out and starting again. I also suspect that people inside the Club are likely sharing similar views.

Maybe Austin and co's job is as 'simple' as finding a player or two that can execute the entry into forward kick better more often than not.

No one has much control over what TDK is going to be paid by St Kilda or wether a particular player has the mental capacity or in the right head space to continue playing AFL.

What can be controlled is knowing what the biggest issues on field are week in week out.

The stats suggest that Carlton is almost there - save that one glaringly obvious and horrible to watch 'how to best control the forward fifty entry' issue.

If Voss is deemed to be unable to recognise this as THE issue - the he needs to go- I doubt that that is the real situation though - I suspect that he is as frustrated with this as everyone else is - and perhaps it is just down to improving the execution ability of the team - in HHF and Wings= - and everything else is just noise.

Trading our stars for early picks... Hello bottom 4 and hello the beginning of the next 7 year rebuild...

The gap between us and teams like Richmond and North Melbourne is paper thin. It's actually not that thick between us and the top 4 either however it becomes pretty damn thick once we start offloading our better players.

We should have what we need and we don't. That is on the coach and recruitement. It will probably take around 3 years of patience to achieve this. Most of our stars will be around 30-33 years old and hopefully our incoming talent will be brimming by then.

We have two solutions. We put in a 3 year rebuild which sees us retain our top end talent.

OR

We put in a fully intensive 7 year rebuild where we start offloading names like McKay, Curnow and DeKoning.

I think we can lose one. But that will drop us significantly (Example, the round 1 side that lost to Richmond). We can't lose too many. If we are to lose any of our stars it has to be DeKoning. He takes the most salary and end of the day he's a ruckman, so no matter how good, he is somewhat replacable.

3 years or 7 years. Those are our options.
