The Geelong player isn't buying it.

IMO, nobody outside of Collingwood, Geelong and Brisbane are a chance this year unfortunately.

Feels like the rest of the 'contenders' (us, GWS, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Dogs) are spinning their wheels waiting for those other 3 sides to age out.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but that's the general feel I have over season 2025.
Likelihood of 2 of those 3 sides playing in the GF is definitely high.

However timing and momentum is everything. Plenty of flag favourites have played a shocker in the PF and left watching on the next weekend.

Dogs in 2016, Tigers in 2017, Collingwood in 2018, GWS in 2019.

None of those grand finalists were expected to make it that year, but they clicked at the right time.

Nothing I’ve seen this season suggests it can’t happen again.

An A grade mid such as Harley or Butters would cost us 2 firsts and a player like Ward.
I agree we need a premium midfielder in there, but it will be a big call.
My big hurdle with getting Harley is the contract. You can sell paying 1.2 or 1.5mn for Butters to the team but will be hard to do the same for Harley.

Not to mention it will be 3 firsts with 1 top 5-10 for Harley. Butters maybe possible with 2 firsts by itself.

If Harley is reasonable draft costs with contract triggers, then I am ok, else perfectly fine to walk away & target a diff A grade mid

The last 3 premiers are the top 3 teams.

It isn't the unproven Blues, Bombers or another possible contender having an out-of-the-box season.

I desperately hope it isn't a GF between any of those 3 sides, because it will probably be the first time in 30 years I don't watch it. But currently, I've seen nothing from any other side to suggest that it isn't heading that way.
Collingwood were reigning premiers last season and fell from top 4 to outside the 8. Carlton had played finals in 2023 and were a strong side late that season.

Brisbane were runners-up and struggling but then came home with a wet sail.

10 games to go there is every chance that Port Adelaide or Sydney get their shit together and have a strong finish to the season. Or even Melbourne who are a recent premier.

There is also the chance that Collingwood, Geelong or Brisbane drop off completely like Collingwood of 2024 did. Nobody thought in round 14 that the hawks would thrash the reining premier by 66 points 5 weeks later and basically end their chance of playing finals.

This year we are not an unproven side we have finals experience and have improved our deficiencies from last season. If we adjust over the bye like last season and have Lewis, Sicily, Day, Worpel and Scrimshaw all returning before finals. Dear hits form too and we could win our last 9 games and finish top.

GWS have beaten all those top 3 teams so maybe look a little harder. If we sneak into the top 4 we are as good a chance as anyone with the Pies and Cats most likely to finish top 2 giving us an opportunity not to leave the MCG in the finals!

Right on.

Where is the fun in being a supporter who glumly bangs on about other clubs winning again.

After rd 15 last year the swans were 13 and 1 and clear on top last year. Looked unstoppable. They went 4-5 from there. Sure they found the granny but we know how that went and look at them now

There is, so, so much improvement left in so many core players. I think we'll win the next 4 and it should kick start the season proper.

If Lewis and Sicily can get it going and Day gets back. Look out

I think we are a 5-8 team right now. But I can see us sorting it out and bolting.

Is more fun to think we will anyway.

Moved on from Oscar Allen . Thank God. Never liked him after his sooky sooky , cry me a river handling of the whole meeting up with Sam saga. Wants close to a mill from us. Lewis, dear, Chol , McCabe will be enough kpf talent for us anyways.

With Fritsch if we can get the Melbourne out of him he would be a great pick up. Looks disinterested like the majority of Melbourne players. Agreed he can be selfish but IMO the best fowards are. You also have to imagine him in a functional foward line with decent delivery.
