Going out on a limb here but I think they might have picked a team which they think is the best chance of us getting a win.
Crazy I know, who cares if we only get one win for the season, it's only abject humilation at being the worst team for decades.

Hewett has needed a rest for some time so I get that one.
Petch is such a funny choice, because at first it seems like loading up on better short term options to lock in a win, but there’s zero argument that Petch falls into that category other than he’s older than the rest.
Seems to be the purest of “here is a final block of footy to try and save your career” Hail Mary. Can think of so many people I’d rather play than him, especially given the WAFL bye where a sub appearance is better than no footy for some of these kids.

It’s a odd numbered month so maybe now Gross is a full time mid and not able to be selected in the half forward role
Given we've been close to the youngest team for alot of the year, noone can genuinely claim McQualter hasn't been playing the kids
Maybe the selections of Petch and Kelly is simply just be a case of actually rewarding WAFL form given both were pretty good last week?

If we're trying to avoid a one win season, odds are that Kelly will offer more than Gross, so I can understand in that respect.
I was never as critical of him as some, but he's been genuinely terrible this season. Really hope we cut our losses soon

When we win - which let's be honest, as a club and a supporter base we desperately need it - there'll have to be some serious munching on humble-pie. Huge slices with a topping of turd sauce.
Outside of Petch the changes aren't really as baffling as some are making out. Trust the process with this one I say.

Ahh nice, 2 players on your list with one stone.
I don't think it really matters results wise whether Petch or Gross came in (or Champion stays in) as all of them would likely be sub and play 2.5minutes at the end of the game. But wouldn't it be better to get Gross or Champion to play some footy given the WAFL bye?
Petch in is just pointless given where we are as a club atm.
Could just be getting one last look before deciding on delistings.
Surely his papers are stamped already though. Not sure there is anything he can do for the rest of the year that would see me keen to hand him another contract

His front running seems tailor made for our move forward at speed style. For the record I'd probably have almost any other player on our list in the side instead of Petch, but it's 1 player out of 23 - I'll keep my sheets dry thanks.

In a rebuild and we take out 3 youngsters, and bring back in Kelly & Petch as part of the ins, what a ****ing joke.

I wonder how Kelly would react if he was named as the sub? From a few accounts, he was going to be the sub last week but said he’d rather play a full game in the WAFL.

I think most players would rather a full game in the WAFL than be sub unless for maybe a first year player.
