He knows the list properly now, he can tell the list and recruiting managers what he wants changed on the list based on how he wants to play. He obviously had very little input last year after coming in so late
I hope coaches have a say in list management because I feel like he needs to get in there barking at what he wants or these goobers will do whatever they want

He still has little input. Mini did not give Tim Kelly a 2 year deal or approve that.... Of that you can be certain

20 years ago they did. Mick Malthouse basically turned over Collingwood's list in three years. When did coaches get so little power in that area?
McQualter is a first time coach, Mick was a 2 time flag coach. I reckon Dimma has more say on the GC list than most new coaches too.

The senior coach has a huge say, like a huge huge say. Anyone who thinks they don't have no idea how footy clubs work. The senior coach gets paid what they do because they are the king and ultimate say on all things football.

I remember a couple of years back that Corbin Middlemass on the ABC said they could not get an interview with the AFL CEO because they would not agree to only ask and discuss what the CEO wanted, he did not want any negative points raised do refused to do an interview.
The sad part about all this is a vast majority of modern footy fans believe what the AFL and the system tell them, when in actual fact it’s more than likely 70% bullshit and written yo tell you what you want to hear.
How sad it’s all ended up like this.
I remember that discussion and kudos to the ABC (Perth) for airing the issue.

It highlights how much the narrative is controlled by those in the 'hot seat' - mind you it doesn't just apply to AFL. It is one reason we get the groupthink thing happening. The AFL use the media to test their 'proposed changes and decisions'

The AFL needs to grow a set and make decisions that are good for the game nationwide.

Yeah obviously has a say but I reckon he and the coaching group should be all in, sometimes they're not even at the draft

He has input, just not the final say.
He tells them how he wants to play, gives his opinion about players and will tell them what sort of players he would like.
Its up to the list manager to make it happen

Yeah that feels about right. Im kinda saying input in terms of final decision though. I dont think Minis decision is final and at times he can be overruled.

Simmo was saying he tells the list manager/recruiters what types of players he needs and they try to recruit as best per that unless there's a draft bargain they can't pass up - like Brander for example.

:$
"I want in and under slow ball winning midfielders"
"How about wingers, we are short on wingers"
"Oh for the wing. For the wing i want you to draft me a in and under slow ball winning midfielder"

Spotted Mini today at a café. He was meeting up with Trent Cotchin, intimate setting - possible assistant coach appointee for next year?

Cotchin going to be the experienced midfielder we need

Is this true?

I have NFI what to believe on this board anymore.
It’s 100% true they were in a Perth beachside cafe together yesterday at lunch time. I was only in partial earshot and wasn’t trying to stalk, so I don’t know the full extent of their conversation, although I couldn’t help but overhear an occasional snippet.

There’s no real basis to assume anything from it, pure conjecture about a coaching gig - i was curious if anyone here knew what cotchins up to atm?. I can confirm they were talking football.
