Beginning to think that some of minis moves and decisions are changes to game plan are being directed by simmo in the background.

Would not be surprised if he is "helping" mini and ****ing us over
I wonder if he's experimenting another play style. Tonight was the third week in a row that we've played a more possession-oriented style rather than the running game that has seen us become more competitive.

Seems to be where all things coaching/fitness go.

Surprised to see Inness linked to another club already.

Seems to have done a great job, would be ashame to lose him.

Mathew Inness and Andrew Russell have been floated as potential candidates to become Essendon's next high performance boss after the Bombers announced the departure of Sean Murphy on Friday. Murphy has led the Bombers' high performance team since the start of 2020, but the club have announced his contract won't be renewed past this season.

That would be a real kick in the balls if we lost Mathew Inness.

He has done a good job , massive upgrade from Warren Kofoed.

We can ill afford to lose good people from the Club
100%. Given where our injury list was two years ago to today, Inness is arguably one of our most important assets. Find a way to keep him.

Perhaps trying to get the team to be able to adapt to the situation.
We have sort of been able to do the go fast no matter what bit, now we may be focusing on being able to slow it down in the back half.

Hard when skills are so bad but id imaigne our last 2-3 pre-seasons have been all 90% focused on game plans and getting players fit rather than skills focused.
Once we get game plans sort of ingrained skills can be a focus again

think he was just being brutally honest
Yeah he almost looked checked out.

Like Ive never heard a coach basically say "oh the players try really hard, play really well 1st qtr and look at the scoreboard and see they're losing and think why bother"

I read it the other way.
Brutally disappointed with the effort from most tonight.
Talking about HR cant expect 1 20yo player to hold up the midfield!
We need to keep finding players who want to compete and bring effort!
I read this as some men tonight got their papers stamped and we will see a big list turnover of whatever we can get with our draft picks and salary $$.

I refuse to believe that until it happens.

They have already signed TK and Hutch for 2 and 4 years who were ripe for delisting in many eyes.

2 perfect examples of terrible list decisions.

Probably not made by McQualter at all but does not help

Why play Petch, he's goneski. Give a kid 4 more qtrs.

His presser you can tell TK is not going to be dropped.
He also backed the entire group in. Pretty sure he was trying very hard not to blame the players tonight. The start the that presser was as flat as I've seen him at any point this year.

About the only time he fired up was when talking about how "bought in" Harley is so...at least there's that?

Have backed him in since day dot, loved what he's done so far

But tonight was as bad as anything under Simmo. The 2nd worst team in the comp made us look like traffic cones. Properly embarrassing night for the club and McQualter
If we had lost by more than 100 then it would have been at Simmo levels.

I think he understands the mental fatigue of losing for the last 4 years.

I thought it 100% felt like that, to be that on top in the first quarter and be down to the 17th team, I just knew we weren’t going to win. Then the Hough run down, Maric kick backwards and Brockman kick across goal? (I thought he kicked the wrong way because you makes those sort of errors) and you know you ain’t going to win. 3 of those things only one team would do. I’m pretty sure all 3 lead to goals.

fragile minds. i get where you're coming from and completely agree, but they're supposed to be 'elite' athletes

lots of work to do in the off season in the psychology space

Clutching at straws methinks

Winnable game, bring back the shitty old players in a missguided Simmo-esque move to make a win more likely, then goes, you know what a winnable game needs? An experimental gameplan that moves away from what made us competitive.

Club copped what it deserved at 3 quarter time

I wish

The players stopped moving. How many times last night did a player run past the guy who marked it for a handball receive? I think Dewar did it a handful of times and that was literally it.

just watched the presser.

He looks clearly down (understandable)

He'd feel so lost right now in what to do.

he can only really go on how well they train during the week. there's nothing coming to help
I was impressed with how clear and simple he sees the performance and its context. Its obvious he understands the game well. His comments related 100% to the game and not training.

If its based on last night game then I expect multiple changes on Thursday night

But what we will get is probably this...

in: Hunt
out: Hall

*yeah look we think we need some run

Apparently 6PR and co got told to leave the change rooms after the game when they wanted to do the post match interviews… I think they got read the riot act to be honest

I don’t believe they ever did any post game interviews either ?
Cole did a post game interview
