Not really. That’s one of my remaining question marks on Nicks. We’re still trying to play overly conservative once we get a lead which is what we did against Port and Brisbane. Both games we probably got a little bit lucky in that they missed a lot of gettable shots. Against the Hawks we got the lead back late, but then weren’t able to finish the game off. In fact the last goal was down to a complete defensive breakdown as someone left Gunston alone in the goal square.

I would assume he’s made some adjustments since then but we are yet to see what those are.
Yes I really want to see them continue to attack. I hope they beat Port by 40+ this time.

I think in Adelaide’s case that they have other points of difference that can make up for perhaps less prime movers than Brisbane. The work that ANB and Keays get through is a massive weapon. Reminds me of Dylan Moore and Connor Macdonald at Hawthorn last year. When you have these workhorses running tirelessly from goal square to goal square doing the defensive work but also kicking goals, it’s like having an extra 2 players out there. Adelaide really look the goods to me.
True, they are amazing and often unsung.

They should go in as favourites, and will go hell for leather like you say. It's what, like 10 or 11 in a row now for the Pies vs Crows? That's like Kennett curse territory.
Collingwood's winning streak against us stands at 10 games (if you include the 2017 draw, it's 11). We last beat Collingwood on 16 July 2016.

The infuriating thing is that our latest losses were by 5, 1, 2, 4 and 10 points. 5 losses in a row by less than 2 goals. Good enough to push them, but not good enough to win.

I hope that we'll finally beat them in Round 23, the dam wall will be busted and we'll beat them again in finals. However, I suspect that the status quo will prevail and they'll beat us by small margins in Round 23 and in September.

It's the closeness of the losses that give me hope.

The Hawks broke a run of like 11 mostly close Geelong wins too in the 2013 PF. Went on to win the granny then threepeat, good omen.

They were low percentage shots from long range/boundary and at least one was rushed.

Lol this also true of brisbanes last quarter, except for Bailey and Neale.

Curtin and Tex especially missed very gettable shots.

Brisbane were also very lucky that Adelaide didn’t get 2-3 more shots with the looks they were getting

I took my Geelong Mrs. to that, great game.

Cats on one side cheering, Hawks on the other side cheering, me in the middle chanting "Collingwood!" [clap clap clap]

I got threatened by an old lady, I honestly did not know what to do.

It all makes sense now. I apologise for getting in the way of BigFooty being an outlet at various times.

I try to improve the lot of the poor Cats wherever I find them.

The Geelong in-laws are appalled but I and the other Collingwood SiL besiege their hearts with charm and good manners (the hallmarks of the Magpie faith) and slowly, slowly we are converting them.

Their issue - if it's an issue - is their slow starts. I don't know whether it's more a Collingwood or Sydney 2024 thing, like is it deliberate, so they save energy for a second half surge? Their best imo is the best, or very close to it, so if they are ON, they can beat anyone. Question is whether they can string together 3 or 4 finals wins in a row. I think they can, and Jake Stringer can, as his name suggests, help them string those games together.

I'll tell you what though, if you're playing GWS, Collingwood, Brisbane or Fremantle recently, if you're close at half time you should be worried.

Crows are joint favourites with Collingwood on sportsbet and crows are favourites to take home the minor premiership at 1.85 pies are 2.10.

4.50 pies crows
Lions 6 bucks
Cats are 6.50 or 7
