My Ladder Prediction for 2023:
View attachment 2376804

17th, you were saying?

And I've explained why Carlton's final ladder positions were overstated in both 2023 and 2024, to enable me to accurately forecast Carlton's plight in 2025.
Oh boy... Where's your updated prediction from March that year gone šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

How can they sell another rebuild? They’ve rebuilt more than Jennings Family Homes.

Rebuild basically means 4 years of being awful. They’ll not justify that.

So instead they’ll just keep the same list and be awful anyway?

They can either grow a set and get moving or they can stay the same.

No skin off my nose but I know what I’d be doing.

What’s the other option?
Not act like the sky is falling when it's not. Terrible year for the Blues overall but there's been some good stories through the year as well.

Injuries and poor form have led to getting some more games into the kids and trying new positions for other players. Some of which have been successes we can use going forward.

We more than likely won't be premiership material next year but the list is in no way in need of a complete rebuild. We have multiple top end picks coming into the club over the next few years regardless of any trades through our academy and F/S.

If all our best players were in their 30s then sure, but most of the players we're being told we have to trade are between 25-28 years old šŸ˜‚

Cripps the only one who's over 30 who would be considered irreplaceable and he's most definitely not being traded.

reminder walshy went through the ladder predictor thread and laugh reacted nearly every post that projected carlton to miss finals.

he is now melting down all over the forum about the upcoming rebuild. it is sad to see how the great man has fallen.

You have 9 players 30 or over this year and have won 7 games out of 9. I wouldn't all anyone older than Cripps a trade asset. The peak in the last 15 years is 13 wins. People like to use Richmond as a comparison for other teams because they were average/crap before 2017, but as funny as it was watching them do the things only Richmond used to do 10, 15, 12, 15 wins then a down year is more runs on the board than what Carlton have put together. Their 2017 flag side had 0 30 year olds in it. Their oldest player was Grigg who was 29. Martin had his GTFO breakout season at 26. From that point he won 3 Norms and the Tigers won 3 flags in 4 years. Carlton right now look more like Richmond at the end of their GF run. Cripps is 31 next year. He's already won 2 Brownlows and had his elite 45 vote season. Curnow and McKay have both won Colemans. Where will the next spark come from?

Cripps is 30, McKay, Curnow, Weitering, Silvagni 28. It's not the end of the world if you make no trades at all this off season but it's a bit of a now or never proposition. If Carlton go back to the well and win 10, 12, 15, whatever games next season great, but it is locking in the path of sticking with the older players. That path is fine but there is no point getting to the end of 2026 or 2027 then changing tack because your ceiling turned out to still be 13 wins because the market moves on. Sydney got Brodie Grundy for pick 46 and a future second and he will at least make the 40 man AA squad. That's the market for a player that good at his age with a big contract that 1, 2 or 3 clubs are paying.

Carlton have some players with currency now and can choose to make moves or not. Collingwood moved on Treloar and Grundy which looked dubious but they've made it work since with Pendles and Sidebottom somehow still playing. Just dump a couple of contracts and find a couple of Daicos. Easy.

Change to the list and coaching group are practically inevitable at this stage so it's not going back to the well.

The only similarities is that many of the same big names would remain. Proven performers and genuine stars when fit and firing.

I'd much rather give that a go then trading them out and watching them battle it out for a flag amongst other clubs who would be desperate to get them.

Fair call I understand where you’re coming from.

I disagree with the state of the list, but also know the word ā€œrebuildā€ is last resort so I get you’d prefer to try what you can first.

I only speak for myself here but I don’t want to see a Carlton rebuild for any other reason than I think it’s what you should do.

The Tassie timing also has a big piece in why I’d do it now.

Saw them first hand last week as a neutral.
Moir is a find as a medium forward as is HOF
Would trade McKay and try Silvagni as a more mobile lead up CHF
Definitely need leg speed and small forwards
Can definitely reshuffle the list if they get 1sts for Mckay and TDK and trade one for either extra picks or some players ready to be in their first 22 and not put too much pressure on Jagga
The Campos need big off seasons to try to impose themselves for a Senior team spot in 2026

I'm not sure they need a rebuild ( they do need a small forward who isn't useless, I mean Ned McHenry could walk in there and it'd be an improvement) but they definitely need a culture reset.

The time has come to acknowledge that Carlton have won **** all for 3 decades now so it is probably time to ditch the arrogance and build the culture from the bootstudder upwards (do they have bootstudders?). Currently, I watch Carlton and their players checked out a long time ago and even though I'm not a fan of Voss, I do not like tails wagging the dog at a football club, especially at one that hasn't got runs on the board to be doing it.

If they are moving Voss on, they need to make some senior players accountable for this season too. There are players out there on big money not trying, if they are not invested, if they don't want to bleed for the jumper, make a statement and move some on. In saying that, I wouldn't move Cripps on but they should think hard about whether he captains the side.

I'm sure Wright has a big job on his hands but I have little doubt there will be a large chunk of the club being moved in the short to mid term because allowing this culture without the results to back it up is madness.

Not having a go at you Cobber. You seem like a fair poster.

The other nuffies however are the same in every thread and have been for years on end. Trolls who provide nothing but jargon.
