I don’t think West Coast are super keen on a 11 year contract at 2 mill a season. Still a bit to play out I think.

A 2 year + 9 year option on the kind of money that's being bandied about in today's concussion era of football is club suicide IMO. A couple of bad knocks early on in that contract would make any club committed to that very very nervous. It's not like he plays a non-crash and bash type position so head knocks will be part and parcel propping up that midfield.

Anyways you have to wonder whether HR's team has asked for something ridiculous like that to see if they'd actually agree to it. Just spit balling here but if WC don't agree to the 2 + 9 then he might be willing to ask for a trade if contending team is offering a 6 year deal on decent coin.

Spot on, and I think his management are hoping West Coast don’t want that length contract.

Not a fan of Walsh, but I get he’s an improvement. We can’t go around again and expect a different result. It’s not up to it and it’s also just not experienced enough in there. A seasoned midfield would have identified in the second qtr last night to just lock it down for 5 minutes and take some heat out of the Crows but we just couldn’t get it done.

Both ends of the ground are decent calibre, we just don’t bat deep enough in talent, or experience, in the middle. If we don’t address it we will waste the rest of the list.
