I’m an optimist sr. But I think we’re cooked.

Which is fine. We got our flag. Some big list decisions coming up for us me thinks. We just can’t rely on nick.
We were super cooked tonight. Don't think we're done yet though.

* Freo is the loss that hurts - just like Swan is ‘24 - absolutely should not lose those

Anyhoo

We are a totally diff side w Bobby + Beau
- just don’t race Beau back, make sure he is right

We also really need to think about how we throw away F1s and the players we draft - would like to bring in Morris next week…
We also really need another highly skilled young mid
Rowell would be bloody handy as well

In
  • Steele
  • Allan

Maybe In
- Parker

Put in midfield (for at least 5 minutes)
- Houston
-Perryman
Why are magnets not being moved?

All in all, we make finals and we go for it
- we’ve got a few weeks to get this mess sorted

OK last one - Darcy Cameron got his butt kicked 😭😭😭

Darcy Cameron has low key been kinda average for a while now

But you know...."iNtErCePt MaRkS!"

He's looked spent for some time. Probably one of the ones we should have actually rested but didn't.

Excuse my ignorance… What is a ‘campaigner’? I’ve only seen this term in the last few days (been avoiding social media for most the year). Haven’t quite figured it out yet.
Big Footy automatically changes another word starting with C to campaigner. I'll let you work out the other word.

So you’re fully across all the ‘chopping and changing’ and know with confidence that it shouldn’t have happened? Or should have been done differently?

I agree our confidence has evaporated- I just don’t know why this has happened.
I think with the outcome of the last 6 weeks I can say with confidence that doing things differently would definitely have been better as we can't be going worse than we are now.

I presume the incident has no been shown from all angles in Slo Mo.
So did Newcombe run past the ball to take out Howie and therefore has something to answer for? Or was it an accidental hit.

Disappointing.
Just too many fumbles and turnovers and little pressure on them. Change of environment playing away might spark us.
Look out Adelaide.
Go Pies!!!!!🤞

was hoping we could turn it around, but as soon as Mitchell and Long were named, my confidence was knocked. it is obvious or midfield is on the slow side, but to play both of these guys together was insane

you cant have a side with Pendles, Sidebottom, Lipinski, Mitchell and Long
selection has been putrid for well over a month

Parker had to come in to go to half back, move Houston out of defence to play a mid role to get some confidence. Cox as the back up ruck

apart from Naicos, Howe is the one player we cant afford to lose. its clear he is the general in the backline
Moore should give up the captaincy as years end, doesn't lead on ground, great off the ground

It's apparent that there is some sort of malaise going on in the club/team.
What happened to take us from the best team in the comp to where we are now?
Whatever it is, it happened quickly.
It needs to be fixed, I hate seeing our boys getting their behinds walloped.
It's like we've turned into Melbourne.

Hope Jeremy will be ok. 💕

I'm not for one minute saying this is the sole reason for tonight's insipid performance, but I hadn't fully realized this was our 3rd game in 12 days!!! That's a big ask at the end of a long season.
If there has been heavier training loads as well (as was admitted by Fly), then that’s a bit of a **** up really. No wonder we looked like we were playing through treacle.

If anyone knows Daryl, seat 18, row 0, m34, likely an 1893l2 or legends member

Tell him we'll eventually cross paths again

Not sure what this proves TBH.
Fly might have been shocked at Jem's injury 2 minutes into the game.
I guess Moore screaming at him is a concern.

No fly was staring him down with a ‘don’t run over here and tell me what to do” Moore screamed at him again fly didn’t budge. It was awkward and the two barely looked at each other for the rest of the game whenever Moore came off. We could tell there was something really off between them. Something has caused bad blood behind closed doors you could just see it.

Wow just realised we are very unlikely to finish top 4, even if we win the next 2 games….

All those idiots that told us “the fixture” doesnt matter when we miss out on top 4 by percentage can EAD.

Football has not been fun since we defeated Hawthorn earlier this year.

Dour struggles and lucky to escape wins vs Demons, Saints, Kangaroos, a diabolical outing vs the Eagles, none of these wins were fun to watch or warranted a red wine replay. The odd quarter here or there. Only the Blues game was genuine fun from a playing perspective, but even then we did what we always do and put cue in rack with a limp final quarter. The Richmond struggle should have been enough warning, even the goalless half vs GCS, that we were off the pace, while all other Top 9 teams pantsed the bottom half of the ladder by massive margins.

Well, our percentage just dropped below GCS, so if they win out like they should, and other results go the way of the higher seed, we can’t finish higher than 5the even if we do manage to miraculously win our final two games. Missing out on Top 4 by percentage, or missing a home EF by percentage, or even missing the 8 by percentage, after having gf a massive 140 only weeks ago, is on Fly. He has done it for his entire time here (managing final quarters rather than going the jugular). He promised more Rocca and less Presti after 2023. I’m yet to see it.

We won’t win next week. We won’t get close. Modern football isn’t played on guts and determination anymore like that famous QF night in Adelaide 2002. It’s all process and discipline and structure. So even if we’re spirited enough, we stand next to no chance against that elite forward line. And after we kept the Dees out of the finals a few years ago by a fraction of a percent with a stirring last round win, they’ll have the opportunity to return the favour if other results fall a certain way, and you know they’ll play out of their skins.

I get it, an ageing list, long season, banked more wins than we thought we would so we tried managing players. It failed miserably. The GCS / Fremantle double failure (yes, by just 6 and 1 point respectively, but failures nonetheless) will go down as the biggest mis management fumble in recent Collingwood history after sitting 10 points clear with less than two months before finals.

Celebrating 14 wins indeed.

spot on
