Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Just spitballing here.l(and I’m backing in the board and wrights decision on Voss)

But, does the needle move on Voss at all if we drop the next 3 games? And happen to get a touch up in one or two of them?
nah, the needle is at 0.

Rd 24 we're playing Essington on a thursday night, 7 doesn't even want to show it on tv. By 11am friday any talk will have moved to finals teams and potentially who might miss the 8 if that's still up in the air.

we'll hardly be mentioned until after the grand final, then we'll be the most discussed team through trade period.

In last nights game, multiple threats in the forward line, the number of times the ball at 50 went for the shallow horizontal kick for a shot 45 out straight in front, other times pagans paddock for Watson 1 on 1, other times wide receivers in both pockets, other times clear out for Gunston, shallow lead to the pocket, then straight line from the goal square for Chol. The only times they went long blockers everywhere for Meek. Zero wastage on any forward 50, eyes down to pick the best of multiple options. Yes please!
Also on last nights game, apologies for wrong thread....

How important is it to have an elite small as in Watson ?
What we would do for one of heem....

They also went in with 4x tall forwards altho Mitchell later said only 3 were on the ground at any one time so they had a rotational basis.
Their forward craft was exceptional so forward entry is critical- our main falling down over the last couple of years.

Correct me if Im wrong but HICKMOTT is their forward coach??

I heard him interviewed before the game last night and was very impressive, came across well/quietly spoken but confident..
Expected something else after watching him as an absolute wrecking ball for the baggers...

At least enquire Wrighty???

Still don't entirely know how I feel about this decision.

BUT what I do like is that by backing Voss, it put the heat squarely back on the playing group.
About time!
Yep, and we'll see who wilts and who's up to it.

I do understand that sub optimal or unsustainable game plans can be a big factor, but I still don't think conditional footballers should be tolerated.

I’m asking myself which assistants would want to come on board with a coach that has 1 year left on his contract, doesn’t sound like any stability to me at all.
Perhaps it is a matter of perception.

Prospective senior coaches, or indeed assistants would be a little reticent to join an organisation with a history of cutting contracts short.

Most of us tragics can put together logical reasons why Voss and any or all of his assistant pts should go. We can ignore the history an d justify the actions. May nit be as easy for there starting out on a career path.

We lament Voss in charge may put some off joining under him. We want to attract quality assistants. It is rock and a hard place stuff. Vossy has one year to go, doubt it is going to be extended without some spectacular results. Just maybe a quality assistant or two may be clued up that opportunity may not be far away depending on events yet to transpire.

We respect the contract, limit financial encumberance etc. The committed players bust their butts, those not motivated by club first May jump ship, but perhaps that is a good thing? It is fair to say that if I scroll through our list, it is nit the younger players who display questionable commitment.

I can’t pretend to know the internal dynamic, but I can see the game day output and endeavour, we all can. We are all guilty of giving certain players a pass mark for various reasons. It is easy to have favourites who are given more licence than others. There are perhaps seven players (could argue for 1-2 less or more) that could be suggested as conditional in MY mind, and no I am not naming. The rest of the list on obvious criteria are in boots and all.

Supporters, coaches, the board etc all put their faith in our top end players and they are largely the ones who have been less than stellar through the seasons. The inner sanctum knows what reasons or excuses are valid. Those who don’t have sufficient excuse who are not giving maximum effort need to be motivated or gone. This mechanism can work, hopefully with minimal “pain”.

No one has offered Vossy tenure beyond “into 2026”, but the very act is likely to precipitate some moves, and may make us a more attractive destination for both players and mentors.

That's what I am thinking. He is looking for the best up and coming coach, or coaches if possible, that can take over if needed and slip right in.

I’ve worked it out what GW master plan is -

🚨 BOMBSHELL MEGA TRADE 🚨

Hinkley to the Blues to bolster the football department and help Vossy.

Butters to follow suit to reunite with Kenny and requests a trade to Carlton.

Walshy traded to Hawthorn for our original first round pick.

Harry traded to the Swans for their first pick.

Wanganeen Milera requests trade to PAFC.

Butters to Carlton for 2 x 10 picks (One via hawks and one via the Swans)

Leaves us with the TDK compo pick to use in the draft to select Josh Lindsay.

PAFC on trade those 2 top 10 picks to St.Kilda for Wanganeen Milera.

We walk away with Butters, Lindsay as well as Dean and Ison.

Easy peasy, everyone is happy!! Thank me later guys 😎😉😂
A little fanciful, but something along these lines is not impossible.

I have no faith in Priestley

That's your prerogative. Just chalk him up as another in a long line of bad presidents. If he proves you wrong then he proves you wrong and he helps turn the club around. I find that position to be understandable but also win-win. Either you're right or the club comes good

What I do know is that Wright is a good football person with a lot of runs on the board. Not as CEO but has been a massive part of building premierships at multiple clubs. From that perspective unless you buy into the crackpot tin foil theory of "every outsider who comes from <insert club(s> is here to sabotage us" is a very good thing.

Well thought out Coona, and if (very big if) it plays out like that, no issues on my end. It’s all the trappings in between that make this feel high risk. Still, I’m putting a pin in my overall thoughts until we have the full picture of footy dept changes + playing list.

Yeah, fair enough. But you can't get blood out of a stone neither.
All good an well to turn it on the playing group but you need the cattle with quality and to get that we're gonna have to have a big list cleanout at the end of the season.

And not even rocket science...

Just well drilled, pragmatic footy.

Love it, just go out there and play with 200% passion and that will overcome any opposition game plan, movement of the ball, patterns inside 50 setup etc. the chain of 6 handballs in a row the opposition put together will not be able to stand up against our players passion.
But what are the senior players going to do?

Where did you hear this because I think that goes against what has been reported. Also, assistant coaches only have 3- or 6- month pay out clauses I believe. So it's much easier to move on assistant coaches even if they are contracted
They were talking about it on one of the social media, can’t remember which one.

I thought if you’re not an AFL assisted club, you had to pay the full amount. If you’re right 3-6 month payouts would be much better.

Hansen and Hamill are the only ones contracted.

Ah ok.. They’re the ones I want gone the most!

Apparently all assistants still have multi year contracts.

I just don’t see the club making the sweeping changes, that most members/supporters want.

I see 2026 being the same as 2025. A list of highly paid, underperforming players, trying to play an outdated game plan.

Hope I’m wrong.
I think Hansen will be the only one retained.

It obviously all conjecture at this point, but I think its worth remembering that building a good coaching units isn't just about the individuals coaches, but how they work together.

When they all row in the same direction, in unison, that's pretty powerful. But one guy not understanding or missing his timing, and all of a sudden you start drifting off course or messing with others.

Getting the coaching cohesion isn't simply firing guys, it's identifying what is working, what is not, and trying to fix that.

Most believe this is only going to be at most a one year gig for Voss. What will take for him to get a contract extension next year. Show some sign of improvement from this year, top 8, 4, premiership or I don’t care what he achieves, I just want him out?
