Glad to be seeing the end of Hobart H&A games.
Fair point shinte

But If we won 4 games in Tassie and it helps us play finals, would you be happy with that? Would you buy a ticket if we made a prelim again? Would you do everything in your power to secure a GF seat if we made it? You might laugh at this proposition, but the club is thinking this way. 4 wins in Tassie this year could have seen us in the finals.

What a ****ing travesty that was, the first sign that the club had gone up its own arse IMO. If the media guy is spruiking this there was no doubt that's what the club thought internally - which is just, insane, really.

Try 4 WA games
1:Eagles-Bunbury
2-GWS-Bunbury
3-Melbourne/St.Kilda/Gold Coast on rotation-Bunbury
4-Dockers-Optus.
As when predicted the membership goes up in price across all Categories in 2026 for 9 games there will be backlash with poor grounds as we will be given a lot of Sunday 1:10pm or 4:45pm games due to being a non attractive club.
So in 2027 the WA Government that has $$$$ will double the contract and this club will take the deal as the NT deal won’t be anything near close to the current WA deal.

The above is agreeable if:
we exit Hobart entirely
we play only these 4 games
they occur as a 4 week stint

Basically we go over in June and don't return until July.

That whole episode shows that even back then the club's feel for supporters had slipped.

Here, let us give you content that details the fight to remain in Melbourne. Everyone should feel good that we are a Melbourne side.

Now that you have watched that video allow us to immediately tell you how we are shipping an extra game interstate.

I've gone the other way on these deals. They make it way too easy for the AFL to screw us even further on the fixture. The WA teams are fine, because that's how we will get the cash for being there and almost every single season we play them twice anyway, so will play them there either way once a year.

IIRC not just a video reminiscing on the fight - they also had their hand out for "debt" money as well, did a $ drive - then told everyone they were leaving the next day. That's not losing touch, it is absolutely cynical manipulation.

If we beat Richmond this week & results go our way in the final round, we could finish as high as 16th. So anyone who says we haven't improved............
Results go or way in the final round? :laughv1: We are playing The Crows.
The Crows would have to rest most of their team for us to have a chance of getting close to winning plus we might also send more players in for surgery..
l think we will end up 16th at the end of the H&A season but l like your optimism.:thumbsupv1:

If we win this weekend we go to 16th. The Crows will eviscerate us, but Richmond would have to beat Geelong to get back above us.

16th...whoa...next year we could even get to 15th....daring to dream....

I would suggest the AFL are using us to lay the ground work for team 20.

The 4 weeks I mentioned was arbitrary based on the previous post.

If we wanted to insulate ourselves from being screwed by the way they fixture stuff we would be better pairing up with another small vic club and going to the AFL for something like:

Week one
North Vs Freo
Saints vs West coast

Week 2
North vs West coast
Saints vs Freo

Week 3
North vs Saints
Derby

The older I get the less I hate the smaller vic clubs and the more I hate the big ones and the league.

Well your spot on with that unfortunately the people who run our club will be told by AFL 2 Home Games in May 2 Home games in July with Foxtel showing the games.

Any pub venues close by for pre drinks and lunch? I’ll need alcohol as my coping mechanism to get through?
That's the other thing about Bellerive there is nothing resembling any cool local pubs or anything proximal (the opposite of something like Norwood Oval for example). It's pretty much a nondescript suburban area.

The best bet is to go down to the Bellerive Marina and head to the Waterfront Hotel or something like that. It's about a 10 min walk to the ground from there. The Bellerive Yacht Club is another option.

A good way to do it would be to catch the ferry out there. But guess what - it doesn't run on Sundays!

That, or facing an investigation for the amount of Adelaide players who'd placed bets on a North upset.

Nothing runs on Sunday's in good old Tassie. It's like "celebrating" Good Friday every week.

So with Hardeman, Archer and Goater not available this week as "small defenders", we're probably going to be relying on Harvey, Mini Helmet, and Duurs to plug these holes. We're going to leak goals like nobody's business this weekend!

We used to go down to the Hobart games the first few years there was a great little pizza shop near there as well. We used hope the fixture would work to allow the game, then scoff a pizza then run to the airport.

Captain Jy Simpkin, who has missed the past two games due to a knee injury, has also been added to the squad.

Youngsters Will Phillips, Matt Whitlock and Taylor Goad join the pair as potential inclusions, with Goad in the frame for a possible AFL debut.
