I'm not really enamored with the Ryan rumour... he was an absolute gun at his best but at (almost) 29, injuries are a worry as is the cost of getting a contracted player in.

I'm absolutely 100% against it if it involves Lancey Boy. Would be very surprising after Ross' comments about Lance earlier this year ('He'll be one of the best small forwards in the league').
He maybe if he is prepared to put the work in , lets not kid ourselves Lance needs to knuckle down or he will just end up another wasted talent

Hindsight is everything but it makes sense why Hill has been more up and down with his form this year if he's been dealing with all this extra stuff off field.

But what a great person he is.
What’s more impressive is how Nas has been playing while wrestling with a big decision on his future.
Shows a real maturity.

I'd fall off my chair if we traded Collard. I think it would be only contemplated if he was desperately homesick, which all indicators are he is not.

Ross has made very clear that he thinks Wilkie & co can achieve success

That crew comes out of contract at the end of 2027

It is evident the club will do absolutely everything to not only get those guys a premiership, but also convince NWM to stay another 10

This is what Ross means when he says this list is being built for "sustained success" - we can go all in on the next two years (hence Ryan) and if it fails, we'll still have the likes of TDK/King/Sharman/Owens/Travaglia/Tauru/Wilson/Pou/Garcia/Boxshall/Dodson keeping us afloat so that we can keep topping up to go for a 'secondary' attack on the cup.

All this while other clubs fall victim to Tasmania ruining any chances of rebuilding in the next ~5 years

The list is in the best shape its been in for a long time

I think you are hugely underrating Ryan. He's not giong to look good at a team as dysfunctional at the Eagles but his numbers are solid. If we can get King back out there next year with Sharman and Owens as foils (and maybe Dodson) a crumbing unit of Ryan and Higgins could be lethal.

Throw in the fact that Ryan and Hall can move in and out of the midfield and we look a fair bit more dynamic.
Wonder what that does for Butler?
Although Ross also did mention playing Higgins in the midfield at times too.

Is the 'doesn't work hard enough' a reality or just something that supporters have labelled him with that has stuck?

Ross keeps on picking him (even if its as sub)... So I find it difficult to believe that would be happening if Lance was a lazy SOB.

Hard work is Ross' mantra above all else.

Agreed don’t want to lose Lance but I think we’re underestimating Ryan.
Been on the Eagles team which has been horrible for years.
He is a matchup nightmare, as good as it gets in marking contests for a small forward and also has the groundwork and pressure game you’d expect from that position.
He doesn’t play similar to Henry at all IMO.
The Commentary from the SEN commentary form the Lions/Dockers game intimated he was definitely leaving so it very well could be to the Saints.

For season 2026, if we have a fit Henry, Ryan, Higgo, Butler, Dow, Trav, then where does Lance fit in? He would have to start impacting games pre-season to get a sniff of selection.

Butler stays imo

We've clearly lacked small forward depth this year so Ryan is more adding to that group rather than replacing anyone

Higgins Ryan Butler Henry Collard is a solid group to take us forward to at least 2028

Tim Watson and Garry Lyon have shed some light on St Kilda’s off-season plans:
Tim Watson began: “If you want to take a really optimistic look at St Kilda, they’ve locked away ‘Nas’, ’TDK’ is going to St Kilda, he’s locked away, he’ll be a St Kilda player next year.”
“They will add Leek Aleer. I’m not quite sure how good this young man is going to be. But we have seen young players like this develop remarkably over time.”
“They’ll add Liam Ryan as well. He’ll move from the West Coast Eagles to St Kilda. I don’t know whether it’s been reported or not.”
“I’m just saying to you this is what they’ll do in the off-season - they’ll add Liam Ryan, Leek Aleer, TDK, they’ve locked away Nas, they’ll hopefully have King back after another summer, they’ll have Mattaes Phillipou back (playing a full season).”
Garry Lyon added: “Hopefully (Marcus) Windhager signs and Jack Steele remains.”
Watson concluded: “They’ll keep all those players.”

Boris' presence at a number of critical Naz meetings can't be underestimated.

Reckon we're setting ourselves up for a Hawthorn 2007 like crack at the whole thing under Ross before Boris takes over & we push for a sustained 2013-2015 like run.

I honestly don’t think he’s too far off. I’ve been one of his biggest critics in here but I see something in him and I hope he breaks out.
If he had taken just one of those Hollywood screamers he goes for we’d be speaking differently about him.

I think we’re setting up for the Tasmanian compromised competition. I think 💭 that’s exactly the Hawks plan as well.

Just for a minute consider the Harley talk as fare dinkum and if you believe that Richmond poster there has been a meeting.
Would we be able to afford it????

We have absolute pro's in charge now.

Compare this to the numpties who thought that blowing up the list when the Nepo Babies (x2) were entering the competition.
