hmm... a difficult one.. this is the byproduct of splashing money around.. if Nas is reported getting $2M a year, and we are offering Windy a quarter of that at $500k, he'll want more for sure. Looking more like he'll go to North in that case unless we budge.

Given that we are courting another young gun mid (assume it's at the Sam Flanders' level), then letting Windy who's a level below Flanders go does makes sense.
Is he a level below though ? Flanders had a purple patch last year and is a different player to Windhager anyway.

Much rather keep Windhager, bring in Flanders and keep the music going.

Oh please, who has been lowballed?

Remember the countless pages from posters such as yourself screaming we were lowballing him and we hadn’t.

And then Ross laughed at all of you and shared how we looked after our veterans by giving them a bonus this year.
Widely reported he was lowballed.

He is receiving offers well above what we’ve offered according to you it’s $200 - $300k a year.

We could both be wildly wrong but you can’t be serious with some of these statements. If as reported Windhager has $800k plus on the table from north and serious interest from several other clubs then by definition our offer is below market value, hence lowballed.

Clubs make decisions all the time that are tough and lead to other players leaving. Despite the denial's paying Nas $2million and TDK god knows what, it appears to already be hurting us in retaining others.

Maybe it’s just me but we can’t have predicted what Nas would cost us so money we thought we had is gone. I think it’s stupid not to lock away your own young guns before you start throwing money at imports.

We’ve talked about TDK, it makes sense especially if Marshall leaves which at one stage at least he wanted to. I’m never going to be happy loosing a Windhager to being in an Aleer. Nothings done until the paper work is lodged he’s a contracted player at a club about to play finals.

So using our coaches logic there can’t at this stage to be much to walk away from. That or once again Ross is too clever by have with some of his statements.

Anyway see the JSOS interview walking to his car.

Hes ****ing GAWN from Carlton, no idea where
Looking forward to the media talking about how Silvagni will cause problems for the team acquiring him, and saying nothing about how Carlton are suffering a mass exodus of players and how it will effect them.

You know, like Damian Barratt last night when the TDK stuff was confirmed.

I agree on the low risk re draft pick, but I meant more he has a unique POD with his superboot and is a big unit who, if he is a later bloomer, could come to bite us. That is all.
I'm behind but from what I've seen, He lacks other attributes; neither tall nor fast, not defensive enough, his endurance is lacking

What's his best position? I just don't see him making it, unfortunately.

If you want to have a laugh, check out the Carlton list management thread where they are perplexed that we can fit Nas and TDK under our salary cap and, accordingly, we are obviously cheating somehow  . Also, after that car interview from JSOS, a few want the Silvagnis to be told that they aren't welcome at the club anymore :tearsofjoy:

Also - does he fit our age profile?
I know we’re losing Jimmy but we have Tauru, Hastie, LOC and probably Aleer coming in. And Howard will be back.
Howard is a bit like Max , you don't want to be planning for either to play all games next season ,

He has repeatedly been disrespected at Carlton because they thought he was always going to stay because of the name and you know we're 'Carlton'.

Both Essendon and Carlton are delusional and living off success in the 80's and 90's. Both going to be irrelevant for the next 10-20 years if they don't pull their heads out of their asses.

Firstly, I asked the question in good faith and appreciate the response.

I think the King contract has a few people putting two and two together. Not sure he's on massive money (and concerns about his fitness would lead him to take years over annual salary).

Thirdly, I love me some Max Hall. And here are the players at St Kilda who are better than he is right now:

Nas
Wilkie
Sinclair
Rowan
Higgins
Owens
Windhager

And Wilson may have taken a leap now.

Hill and Wood would be on not much (like the King scenario, years over salary), same with Clark. The reasons we're "overpaying" for TDK have been well articulated (he's a restricted free agent so we spend to avoid a potential match), and no one is begrudging Nas a cent of what is probably $3.8m over 2.

TL; DR: I'm not concerned about our salary structure.
Please Wilson taken over Max Hall?
Come on
Rated 82 with 750 + players in comp and was rated in top 10 in league over 6 week period
Was rated in top 3% in comp with his fitness
And the work he does to support the onballers and pressure acts that he does for Ross within his game plan is unbelievable
So no Wilson hasn’t leaped Hall
Wilson did have a fantastic game last week👍

He's very, very good. A number of others at the club are also very, very good.

Hall and his management just came to an agreement on a new contract so I'd suggest everything is fine.

Of course.
But if he’s fit he’ll play.
We missed both he and King this year.

Reported by Gabelich and the source was windys agent. That doesn’t make it true.

By the same token, Carlton lowballed TDK.

Or did st Kilda and north re windy put a bigger offer on the table to incentivise a player to want to/consider moving??
