2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

losing our first this year would suck... not even for flanders+ryan, even if it is objectively a good moneyball move i still dont like it
It's not meant to be a great draft though by all accounts, all top end talent seems to be academy based. I mean we drafted boxshall at pick 45, im backing in our guys to find pieces at the lower end

Flanders easily worth our first pick IMO.

Bloke is a jet. Watch his 2024 highlights
couldnt agree more, he can accumulate disposals but also has great line breaking speed, compliments our other hard tacklers well.

especially our first pick in this draft, watched a fair few scouting videos and theres not much out there at those picks of the draft anyway

Flanders worth a first yes, but idk why we're so content to give it up. He played as sub and has been played out of position all year. Gotta play hardball, he can request a trade and make it awkward, offer a shit trade, and then throw in a third at the last minute so gold Coast can satisfy their fans that they "won" the trade. It's what geelong did with bailey smith. Didn't budge then right at the end, threw in a late pick and bulldogs flinched. I know he was out of contract so maybe different situation. Same happened for macrae to us tho.

Its interesting the level of fervour that's been created. I'm excited by Nas resigning, TDK coming across and Flanders if it happens.

I doubt JSOS occurs and don't believe Ryan or Aleer are going to take us where we want to go.

I'm a bit meh, particularly why Windhager is not signed and supporters are so keen to see Steele and/or Marshall traded.

I was hoping they'd be moved last off last season because we need the picks.

Steele has been on the decline for a few years, still gets huge midfield minutes and ultimately isn't a first choice mid anymore. He doesn't have trade currency anymore which is frustrating, but it will be addition by subtraction by opening up a midfield spot.

Pick 7 for CMac and change (Aleer)
F1 for Ryan and Flanders
TDK and/or JSOS as FA

More than happy with this before looking at on trading Marshall or Steele. There would be some unlucky players on our list if all that came to fruition.
Definitely not pick 7 for cmac and aleer. Cmac is out of favour. Aleer played 2s for much of this year. Do we not remember how easy it is to win trades easily when a player requests a trade to a single club?

Feel like it's being forgotten a bit that this year is meant to be a thin draft. If that is the case **** it let's burn our first rounder and bring a stack of talent in for next year. Just don't let our future first go!
This. Plus, our pick will likely end up much lower with all the academy stuff. It's already been pushed down 1 with Oscar Allen confirmed leaving eagles via FA. Expecting it to fall another 4-5 picks

My exact thoughts, he's easily worth 7, AA calibre and fits our game perfectly. Slots into Nas' spot on the HBF and can rotate through the middle. But GC always take unders so we can probably get him cheaper. Also, GC might not even want pick 7, theyre already shopping around their other first round picks so that they can get their 9 first round academy kids with a bunch of picks in the 40's and 50's.
