Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

It's amazing how quickly opposition supporters become experts on our list once a player rejects their club.

The NGA's are a joke in my opinion just a glorified sponsorship with some Aus-kick hosting duties.
What is it that clubs actually do in development as far as you know?
Give the clubs one option to draft them at 16 and take responsibility in developing them.

I can't speak for all clubs, but at Port, there's programs that get the prospects to work on their skills I believe on a bi-weekly basis led by our development coaches as well as some tailored programs to work on the prospects strength and conditioning etc and creating a pathway for them into AFL. Its quite a financial investment in the context of things.

Yes, everyone should pay an appropriate price for FS and NGA, including Saints. Not hard to fathom.

Totally agree, this wasn't my argument though. My argument was against the first round lockout. I am all for including taxes rather than discounts on first round prospects starting from next year. Don't have an issue with that whatsoever. Also dont allow clubs to stock pile more picks than available list spots and only have free agency compensation picks after the first round. Some of the changes I'd do.

I still wonder what was worse, 1997 or 2010 after the Grand Final and Grand Final replay respectively:
1997: Crows fans singing oh when the crows come marching in as we walked out, or
2010: Pies fans screeching "Milney's a rapist"...??
Absolutely pathetic supporters with no grace!

I personally think the Crows were worse however as one of them became physical with me as well.
Not forgotten 28 years later!
Needless to say I want both sides to lose...

The Crows loss hurt me the most.
Without Everitt, Smith & Vidovic who were starring that year
we were severely depleted.
And also the shananagans happening with some of the players/wives etc. didn't help.
It was definately a hard loss to deal with.

Well if we can't have any trust whatsoever in anything from the media, might as well shut down this thread!

Pretty much everything here has origins in something a media commentator said somewhere.

To be honest I prefer to trust the Club and their expertise in this area than a keyboard expert on Bigfooty running hypothetical salary cap scenarios purely based up media reports on players and their contract value$, then creating a doomsday outcome at the Club. When we have no real understanding of actual contract terms, loadings, clauses, triggers etc. across all listed players. For that matter, the media doesn’t know either.

I genuinely dont understand what you mean when you say we have an advantage not all clubs have. If you mean by NGA access, all clubs do have NGA programs. Its the investment that varies. Thats on the club if they dont want to invest and develop. You can penalise the clubs that do help in increasing the talent pool.

There is NGA/Academy Zone Access, and there is ACCESS.

St Kilda's access is a tiny pool of players. If you area club with access to large pool of players then you are
