He's 30 years old next month and a career loser. He's a good player, but he's a soon to be 6 time B&F winner because he plays for Essendon. Bit like Dayne Zorko for mine. Zorko is still great at 36 and has been a big part of their extended run at the top but he's not winning 4 B&Fs in a row in the current side. If his individual accolades lined up with Brisbane's run of making multiple prelims and GFs rather than finishing bottom 4 he would be in different conversations. Someone will win our B&F this year and whoever it is was absolutely nowhere near the AA side while other teams had multiple reps.

Dons would want a king's ransom to let him go. But (a) he's not worth it, and (b) the only teams who have it to offer shouldn't. A first round pick from a contender (or two) doesn't really do a lot for Essendon, and if you are already in the mix why would you offer more?

Yeah I just can’t see it happening. Essendon will just go yeah no worries we want 2 first rounders and a best 22 player otherwise you’re staying

Or, you have a consistently high performer regardless of the talent around them. As a predominantly outside player he would be taking the piss in a good side that could actually feed him the ball. Would be a perfect fit at Hawthorn in my opinion (and nothing would hurt me more to see him in the poo and piss).

Id choose Merrett but the cost would be double what we would offer for Petracca.

Geelong have less to offer than us. Their goal would be Butters FA nect year but even then Port match and have to play hardball and refuse the crap Geelong always offer.
