Oscar not taking risks with 3 points in the balance, probably the right call but he could have done what Lando has done previously and just said "give me the opposite". Might have had a a chance even without a pitstop error
All this also assumes and implies that Oscar was forced to stay out there until Lando made up his mind on whether he pits first or second.

McL have said all along, they have no number 1 driver
Actions speak louder than words.

And their actions show quite clearly that they do have a #1 driver.

What I'm wondering is just how long do the Tifosi just sort of hang around on pit straight?
They'll move on soon enough and start dismantling the track to take home whatever they can!

I'm not even joking.

reporter just confirmed that McL said "get Oscar in first so he can be safe from Charles"
Given how crucial this decision was, that audio must then come out during the week.
If not…

And why wouldn’t have Oscar, nor his mechanic, mentioned it in the swap conversation? Surely that would have been the whole topic of conversation

It's just instinct. The amount of interesting things I came home with after Big Day Out back in the day.

Anything that wasn't bolted down really.

Anyone have the ability to see the deltas between Oscar and Charles for those 3 or so laps prior to the pitstop?

Was Leclerc even closing? I don’t remember that occurring

PIALEC
Lap 401.22.2961.22.298
411.22.6191.22.272
421.22.4191.22.035
431.22.3691.21.818
441.22.4041.21.738

As Norris started lap 40, Oscar was 30 seconds clear of Leclerc.

Oscar had no idea about the Charles comment.

Straight up “nope”

Hahahaha clearly was news to him.

So she put it out there “Lando told his team to out Oscar first to protect him from Charles” (which Oscar had no knowledge of)

That radio transmission must come out

FFS, did you not just hear the reporter then state it when she interviewed Max?

It's something else at Monza. I saw people taking home the foam boards, diving in skips for used tyres from the support races, literally anything they could get.

I remember one year, Fisichella stopped on track late in the race. Fans pulled his car apart before they could recover it!

Lando on now. Wait, she’s not asking him about the generosity he offered, that she brought up and fully clarified/“quoted” with both Oscar and Max??

Lando making no mention of doing it for Oscar’s benefit.

Seems an incredibly strange omission for her to not ask him about it given she has twice told other drivers Lando said it, and it was the reason for the position swap…

There’s only one reason she didn’t want to say it to him - because it never happened.

Will go against most of the narrative of this thread and state that Oscar giving back the place to Lando after the botched pit stop was the right thing to do, not just in the context of the race where Lando had the clear position and race pace over his team mate and yet gave up the first pit stop to help him out over his battle with Leclerc, but also in terms of what it means in terms of keeping team harmony for what was just a three point difference. Public perceptions matter - that's the reality in global professional sports in 2025.

Also will go against the narrative of this thread in terms of the commentary balance this race weekend. Lots of comments from the Sky Crew I didn't agree with but in general thought it was pretty balanced. And the comment above about DEI hires in the commentary team? Not sure what is being referenced there but grow up.

Great go-to-woe quali and race from Max and Red Bull. Shows there's still a lot of heat left in this championship battle. And loved the fact we had a quick race so we could all go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Good night all.
