Agree on Washcroft, think he’s got some pretty harsh watchers in here. Has the ability to break games open from contests that not many others have

In ye olde days, if a Matthews or a Lockett or a Williams was on the receiving end of such treatment from a hack, said hack would spend the next eight weeks incapable of enjoying a steak dinner.

Another thing is if you don't put mayo on a push in the back you get nothing because umpires only blow the whistle for significant pushes. Pay all pushes in the back, no need to act.

If Rayner was falling over while his opponent wasn't doing anything illegal (hello Nick), then I'd have an issue with it.

You would honestly think there had never been a single bad umpiring decision paid in history... he was bumped IN THE BACK, well off the ball, after (it appears from earlier vision) being warned by the umpire that he was treading a fine line (tbf I do not know exactly what the animated conversations between Rayner, the umpire and O'Connor was, but it certainly seemed that Rayner was complaining about off the ball contact, O'Connor came in to plead his case to the umpire and the umpire then was looking directly at the incident when it occurred)?

Initially the reaction of some in the media was to say "You can't pay that in a final... tell them to cut it out - 'you stop whacking him in the back, and you get up on your feet... if it happens again, especially off the ball, I'll pay a free kick... you've been warned'"
It now seems that is exactly what may have happened?

Calls for Rayner to be charged for diving are absolutely ridiculous... he didn't throw his arms up and fling himself forward like he'd been shot in the spine, he simply went to ground after being bumped in the back.

I just watched that vision. My god, talk about applying interpretation to suit the narrative. When there’s more sense being spoken on reddit (from all supporters) then there’s something wrong with the media. Talk about trying to create division where it doesn’t exist!
