  • Walsh has stood up in recent meeting and said if you don’t want to be here ****en leave and grow up and let us do what we want to do. Strong chance of replacing Cripps. He or Weitering, players to vote

Wonder if he said that with Charlie in the room. Would certainly have stirred the pot.

STK like bidding (as did SOS in his time with us) “to keep clubs honest” and dock their points/draft hand..

He also likes to keep the bid up his sleeve to recruit later. Setterfield. Henry.
Yeh I expect the bid. But as long as Dean nominates as a father-son we can match it.

Charlie and Harry at their current contracts are incredible value for money. That’s why other clubs ask the question of them every single year.
I agree and that’s why I don’t get why they get brought up as being overpaid. If we want to go target someone like Bailey next year he would be our highest paid player. Our top end contracts are good unfortunately they all just had poor seasons.

And Dodoro did to us with Jack with SOS as LM.

We can so long as Dean remains tied to Carlton. If he opts out of being father-son eligible then he's open game.

I don't see him getting past Essendon either (as another poster mentioned earlier). With their two picks they can take the best non-compromised mid and key position players in the draft available to them when they pick which Dean projects as at this stage.
Ah okay fair enough - never really considered the possibility that he wouldn't nominate as a father-son. I feel like chances are very low he wouldn't but who knows I guess.

Not sure why anyone is getting excited about the club allegedly being linked with Butters. There is absolutely no chance of it happening. No assests to satisfy Port. And just because he is apparently close with Hinkley? A load of crap.

Just curious what assets do the hawks, cats and dogs have for port in a butters trade?

It’s unlikely but it’s not crap when we have picks to use and now cap space and people at the club that he has relationships with. The hawks are interested in Ken Hinkley so they can get Butters. Why doesn’t that apply to us if we get Hinkley?

I’m a big fan of Walter but geez it makes me nervous giving up Charlie for a player with potential. If he meets his potential we are laughing, if not, it’s a big call…

Would need to balance out that risk with at least pick 6 and potentially more coming back our way. I get that Charlie is 29 next year and has an injury history but if we trade him the deal has to be a considered a decent win for us.

Charlie was once a player with potential

Freo fans actually care about Reidy, maybe there is something there... Or maybe it's just the remnants of Meek haunting them... I'm going to choose to be glass half full. Go well, Reidy.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but he is a spud. Honestly can’t believe you guys are interested in him. Can’t even ruck at WAFL level and does 0 around the ground when not rucking.

Charlie's knee has had multiple surgeries and is approaching 30. Now is the time to cash in the chips and get maximum return.

I would love Butters, but how are we going to fit all the midfielders we have.

Rotations are extremely important. For too long we've relied on too few and run them into the ground.

On the slim chance we land Butters.. Cripps, Walsh, Butters start on ball. Hewett comes off the bench. Cerra can play half back if needed. Jagga starts his career in a different position with small bursts on ball. Cody the same when he comes in. Walsh can spend time on the wing as part of rotations. Cripps can spend some time forward. Lord probably becomes depth but since the season is a marathon and not a sprint, we manage the bodies and health of our players.
