Walter should be the starting point for any negotiations. GCS are getting more depth of quality young players through their academy and ND, and the reality is that they won't be able to hang onto them all - similar to GWS.A Charlie trade to GC could be a win for both teams based on list profiles.
Harry and Charlie are both the same age, so we’re likely going to have to replace two key forwards in 3-4 years time. GC have Read and Walters from the same draft, but after last night would be thinking that an experienced, prime aged key forward might be required to compete go that bit further in September.
Charlie for Walters (plus whatever picks change hands to square the trade) would give GC a boost now without mortgaging the future. Walters can develop as number two and will be prime age when H retires. Even Ben king would help reset our list profiles in a good way.
They won't want to let Walter go obviously, so they have the choice of getting Curnow in for a tilt at a premiership, or wait another few years until these youngsters are hopefully reaching their potential.
I agree with another poster that Charlie and a future 3rd in exchange for Walter and a future 1st would be fairly close. They need their selections for their academy players this year, we need points for Cody next year.
Of course most people would think we're getting ripped off, but if the club are happy to move Charlie on, I don't think we should expect much more.
