A Charlie trade to GC could be a win for both teams based on list profiles.

Harry and Charlie are both the same age, so we’re likely going to have to replace two key forwards in 3-4 years time. GC have Read and Walters from the same draft, but after last night would be thinking that an experienced, prime aged key forward might be required to compete go that bit further in September.

Charlie for Walters (plus whatever picks change hands to square the trade) would give GC a boost now without mortgaging the future. Walters can develop as number two and will be prime age when H retires. Even Ben king would help reset our list profiles in a good way.
Walter should be the starting point for any negotiations. GCS are getting more depth of quality young players through their academy and ND, and the reality is that they won't be able to hang onto them all - similar to GWS.

They won't want to let Walter go obviously, so they have the choice of getting Curnow in for a tilt at a premiership, or wait another few years until these youngsters are hopefully reaching their potential.

I agree with another poster that Charlie and a future 3rd in exchange for Walter and a future 1st would be fairly close. They need their selections for their academy players this year, we need points for Cody next year.

Of course most people would think we're getting ripped off, but if the club are happy to move Charlie on, I don't think we should expect much more.

And most new coaches want their own assistants. So what we're saying here is that all these new guys are gone in 12 months when GWs "preferred coach" is available? OR let me guess... these new hires are all being made 12 months in advance... they're the next coaches assistants...
And Zooper Doopers!
Star
scout. Mr Merlin’s magic purple potion. Kung Fu .
Mmmmmm

Walters + F1 I'd take.
I think we could do better, take in to account where you think the F1 will be on draft night, probably 15-20.

If you have a team that has brought in I think 12 1st round picks in the past 3 years (including this one) good players will be in the 2s or forced in to positions they’re not happy with.

We could push for Ballard in a deal or Collins or any other player of need.

I don't think they go too well in the heat.

Nah. those things stay frozen for days in summer. You suck all the juice out before they even melt.

Thing with Read is, I dont think he's a long term forward. He was a ruck all through juniors. I think he's mostly playing forward right now to continue development, but in 5 yrs time when his man body develops and Witts is long gone he'll be a ruckman.

Pretty sure Ned Moyle is what they had planned to be the long term replacement for Witts.

If he has any brains, he would endeavour to be at his very best so that other clubs do want to trade him in...

You think Adelaide would have wanted to give 2 first rounders if Gibbs sooked it up? No chance, and he'd have stayed at Carlton.
Charlie is like Fev, A kid in a man’s body so not real bright
Although Gibbs wanted to leave he gave us 100% every game
We can’t say the same about Charlie this year so doesn’t feel me with any conference goin forward
I’m happy for him to go now he’s fallen out of love with our logo

IMO, the club don’t want to move Charlie on, so that is nowhere near enough to consider it.

Another consideration is what does loosing Charlie do to our supporter base? Are we then in a rebuild, a mini rebuild, a reset, are finals possible? Could 100,000 members drop to 80,000 or even 75,000? Walter and F1 doesn’t make up for what the club stands to loose and is way unders for the Sydney/Buddy like boost GC will get for acquiring Charlie.

My 6yo let out a sad sigh when I told him JSOS and TDK were going to the Saints and Charlie might be leaving too. But he gave a big "Yay!" when I told him we'd be getting better players instead.
Point 1: Winning games are important for kids than individual players.
Point 2: Please don't disappoint us Austin ;)

Yeah Power was the one we didn't want to lose.

I didn't think Hamill was too bad considering our defense has had to make several adjustments over the last 2 seasons and still not a stable back 6.

Considering the crap Voss has had to deal with RE strategy, tactics and gameplan, I'm not sure what exactly Ash Hansen has done to earn his much touted rep. He is either being ignored by Voss, or else he is equally responsible for our putrid performances.
Our defence was terrible. Some numbers make it look ok because we’d flood back so aggressively, but we couldn’t maintain a functioning zone at even a vfl standard, can’t hand off, seemingly have ignored the existence of kickouts… the only time our defense looked marginally functional was when we ditched everything and went purely man on man. Complete shambles.

Humphrey should be the starting point.

Walter would be maybe 40% of a deal that would get our attention.
My thoughts as well mate.
Walter doesn’t really get me excited at all as part of a Charlie deal.
Gotta aim higher than that imo
Hopefully Gw is thinking ‘knock us off our feet’ type deal. Or Charlie stays.

Chuck in Rogers as well for the tipping point..
Subject to AFL F/S rules (which we should already know from last year’s changes).

Absolutely no chance he plays for West Coast.
If he can't stand the "fish bowl" of Melbourne then he won't like the 2 team city of Perth.

He's also rumoured to be unhappy with Carlton having a bad year, so you really think he'll play for West Coast?

It'll be GC or Sydney. Don't care which.
If he doesn't get traded and he's prepared to put in the effort again then I'm more than happy to support him next year, but staying doesn't seem likely.
“Rumoured to be unhappy with Carlton having a bad year” - senior players had a big hand in that.
Show the leadership to bury in and lift the team amongst yourselves and bring the youngsters with you.

Half the posters in here have no real knowledge of Walter but are happy to take a deal for this kid and a crappy first rounder?

We have seriously lost the plot if that’s where we are at. Charlie Curnow is a superstar in his prime. You pay overs or you don’t get him. Simple as that. Humphrey, Flanders and F1 type stuff. If it’s Sydney, Gulden, or Blakey and plenty more or don’t bother.

Our standards as a club need to lift.
