Will get to Sydney imo and the deal in the end will be hayward and Gulden.

Gulden will ask to be in the trade he was a Carlton supporter before being Sydney it not like Sydney is his home WA is so imo being a supporter previously will help him get to carlton plus he is paid handsomely already I think like 1.3 but will done in a background nothing getting leaked between Sydney, Carlton and his management it has happened before so don't be surprised plus I think that's a fair deal
I suspect that you're putting way too much emphasis on Erroll supporting Carlton as a kid. He grew up in Sydney and his mother is currently an assistant coach for the Swans AFLW team.

He'd be a great get but you'd have to think that it's highly unlikely.

When was the last time a top tier player was traded to another club for another top tier player? It’s pretty rare let’s be honest.

You may want a gun in return but it won’t be happening. I can tell you that. And don’t say the club won’t trade Charlie, he will be traded
You are missing the point that he is under contract and he does not have to be traded at all unless a suitable deal is put forward, if not he needs to suck it up and play with us many examples of this Papley & Petracca in the past have had to do this, we hold the position of power here.

Gulden is from Sydney. You’re thinking of Warner from WA.

And Gulden and Hayward together would probably be overs.
My bad point is that he needs something to leave Sydney money could not convince him to leave when he had massive offer from Adelaide but potentially playing for the team you barracked for could and no Gulden plus hayward not overs curnow is superstar who is two times Coleman medallist aswell as 4 years on his contract he would be one of the untouchables at Carlton.

There's no denying we hold the position of power due to him being contracted.

But historically, when a player wants to leave, the trade happens more often than not.

Reality is, we need to make a decision that puts us first... is keeping a disgruntled Charlie to spite him and his manager a smart move? How does it improve our side? Do you think Charlie holds the same professional standards as Papley and Petracca? He clearly doesn't...

Having said that, we won't be letting him go for Flanders + a future 2nd...

I gave examples already... Lachie Neale, Jeremy Cameron, Bryce Gibbs, Chris Judd ... all deals that were done with either a combination of picks + promising young players or just draft picks.

There are no examples of superstar for superstar. It just doesn't happen. If GCS offer us one of their most promising young players + high end draft picks, I think we'll seriously consider that... but you're right, the ball is in our court and if that doesn't satisfy us, then so be it, we'll keep him.

Eagles F1 to suns for walter (big eagles fan growing up)

Curnow to gc for eagles F1, flanders and rogers

Two quality young players and potentially a pick before the walker pick in 2026

Could be some pick thrown around to balance. Thoughts?
Interesting angle.
I'd like to work Caleb Lewis into that so we at least have a young key forward coming in.

I’m not missing that point at all. I’m going off what I know of the situation and the information that has been provided to me.

I expect Charlie to be traded and have said that for a long while.

It’s time for a big shake up. Happy for the club to take Charlie over breach of his contract if he is in fact refusing to play for us again. Get him off our books and de-registered till end of 29. I’d rather get nothing for him than be rail-roaded.

And **** Geelong, they’ll probably offer us a Cam Guthrie and another hack /done player for him anyway.
Spot on

There'll need to be a bit more to it but as a base I can see that working.

He's an athlete that does most things on instinct and struggles when he has to think things through.

I blame all of the soft tissue injuries that kept sidelining him just as he was hitting his straps.

However, there have been concerns over his coachability. This isn't the first I've read about it

Doesn't surprise me to readi Mitchell rates Ginni. When you put the flog attitudes behind he's a kid who wants to be a footballer and will drive himself to get there. Watching him in the clinches this year and especially recently shows that he's so much more than the diver he used to be.
Love or hate him, Ginni rises to the bigtime.

Seems there's a fair bit of posturing and chest puffing going on right with a number of clubs.

GCS planting their flag in the sand with their academy boys and broadcasting that they're pushing for Walter to negotiate a new deal. Similar with Swans broadcasting that currently they're securing Amartey so he can team up with Charlie.

In other words 'they're staying, not available for trade.'

And I wouldn't be surprised if we're doing similar by announcing to the AFL world that the TDK compensation pick is up for sale - ie sending a message to other clubs that we're not interested in any mid range 1st round draft picks, given we're fobbing ours off. I don't think it's an accident that Cal Twomey got hold of that information.

Then again, I really have no idea what I'm talking about

Not sure if Sydney would want to part with their next captain in waiting....
Not sure if I really care about what Shitney wants or doesn't. If they want Charlie, they have to give us something that will make us go wow. If it's their next captain in waiting... then the deal gets done if they want him badly enough.

.....

I don't think this is a bad net result.

curnow is worth more to Carlton than "not a bad result" - even playing on VFL.

btw normally I would be very much in favour of you line of thinking regarding a player expressing interest in leaving - however right now given the circumstances of losing TDK for a lousy pick in a lousy draft on top of an awful year on top of new management coming through

Carlton First ( which is PC speak for "We are Carlton F the Rest" ) - can also mean "4 years curnow your management didn't deliver on their promises to you ( DOH) now STFU and enjoy the next 4 years.

PS we loves you.

Exactly.

Papley wanted out. Didn't happen. He found a way to be happy again at the Swans.

If we don't get a compelling offer for Charlie, we should keep him.

When was the last time a top tier required key forward with 4 years to go on their contract (and with nothing untoward off-field) was traded?
