Who is this A grade elite outsider that we have on our list?

Every likelihood we’ll only use 3 top end draft picks depending on how many players we trade in and available list spots - picks 1,2 and maybe the Port pick around 7/8 if we can get it off Gold Coast.

If we don’t trade either 1 or 2, then our 3rd selection will be dependent on who Richmond and Essendon pick with their selections between 2 and the port pick

2026 season

Duursma - starts in defense
Sharp - pure on-baller starts as bench rotation
Cumming - forward / mid rotation with Hewett / Gross

If we split 1 we miss Duursma IMO.

If we split 2 we risk missing Sharp depending on what we get back.

Yep, most good mids can play anywhere. Unless it’s 3 x Sharp type mid (he’s even been a decent footballer forward and half back)

We have HR, Hewett, Allan, Gross, McCarthy maybe.
Draft 3-4 mids while we are down the bottom and set us up for 10 years.
Minimum 2 this year, 1 in 2026.
Sharp, Cumming, Duursma is an outside player who is probably a transition player across HB/WING/HF, lower priority but still best 5 talent in the draft.

Draft mids next year out of a group of A Butler, L Hicks, A Van Dyk, G Gale available to us and all the other mids who don't make it in the guts become outside/role players across our list.

Add to that both Banfield FS's, K Evans NGA and we have a great core of inside outside players.

More important to add to our KPD players through the draft after the midfield and add to our stocks.

2025/26 we need 2 KPD players drafted, D Shanahan NGA 2026 will be one and surprised if he doesn't make it, the other is a priority this year while we have draft capital and bank a good prospect for 3-4 years time when they mature.

Whether that is Ainsworth, Thredgold or Stumpf.
Barrat as part of the Ryan trade or Zakostelsky who are CHB options.

Xavier Taylor strikes me as the sort player who will go somewhere between Pick 6-10 but when they do the “2025 redraft” in 2030, he will be Pick 1-2.

Don’t see the point in that.
There’s a much bigger talent gap between 2 and 5 then there is between 10 and 15.
Especially when 5 becomes 8 or 9

Essendon don’t have pick 4 in the scenario where we get 2 for Oscar.

They have pick 5 and 6.

So have to factor in tigers taking two picks. Potentially being sharp and Cummings given they took big last year and will look to go mids this year.
