You can just see Charlie somehow ending up in Geelong.
You must be kidding as Mackie is worse to deal with than Dodo was!!! He likes to sell high and buy very very low, and remember how the cats compensated Carlton for Henderson and Touhy........Fogarty has been serviceable, but Snell(?) was useless.........The suns have more to offer back, so I would only be dealing with them as they are yet to register on the premiership board, while the cats may win another next weekend and why help them to win more flags?!! Cannot exactly remember the cats bloke name in the deal, but he was a dud!!!

Did anyone else see doc on that live stream? He’s so adamant that we are going to be completely sh*t next year because we were dipping our toes into playing for the now and the future at the same time.

More I think of it, I am so glad we didn’t pick up Houston last season. We can jump back up quick smart if we turn Jsos and TDK into some prime movers and get our coaching dynamic right.

The fact TDK jumped on that stream with Lyon speaks so much about how aloof he is as an individual.

Seems like we we didn’t budge on the outside noise and now we can deal with what we have and what we can get into our club.
Where was this stream..?

Someone better remind Doc just how sh!t we were because he was selected at the start of the season. Cost us R1 vs RFC when he came on and it didn’t improve much..

Lions have done very well getting Morris and now Gallop(academy) for not much of a spend. Not a whole lot in our young marking forwards pantry. The Lions entire forward line can clunk it.
No need for Allen (nor Draper) IMO.

If we can get our younger players to perform similarly it would be great to assist our transition from the departed.

1/3 of their team 22yo or under. Standing up too.

Jack Martin and Dan Houston playing in a grand final.

TDK,JSOS gone.

Charlie Curnow wants out.

Other than that everything is good :straining:
Martin hurt his calf again and Houston won’t be playing in a GF anytime soon. Pendlebury, Howe, Crisp, Mihocek, Elliott, Sidebottom all over the cliff now.

Mal Michael retired when at the lions in 2006, then played with * in 2007.
The rules were changed for exactly that reason. If Charlie "retires" for no other reason that he doesn't want to play for Carlton again. If he un-retires himself next season then he should be automatically back on our list. And the same issues still arise. In fact, if I was the club, I would make the case that because Charlie fake retired and sat out a year to get to where he wants to go as a DFA, then we should be able to claim him back as a Carlton player, still with 4 years on his contract and if he wants to get to where he wants, the destination club needs to come up with a massive trade offer.

Or the AFL permanently deregisters Charlie.

And Mihocek & Elliott on the radar of others. Collingwood after Buller from SYD, you’d think as coverage/replacement for Mihocek (MFC offering 2yrs). Charlie West below as well.

Not sure if Elliott is cooked either. Still very capable.

What did Doc say exactly on the stream?

He is starting to drop little sound bites around the media circuit since he's retired, none of which are positive.

He wants to be careful not to burn the goodwill he's earnt with the supporter base and start coming across as bitter and selfish.
Starts at 1:56:00 (only goes for about 1.5-2 mins)

Some media headlines being considered:

Frampton comes alive “needs defibrillator”

Houston fails to launch, again.

Darcy’s worst game, needed to show Moore not less.

Big Cox doesn’t rise to the occasion...

Isaac Quaynor the only sign of IQ at Collingwood...

My assessment of Docherty at the moment is a man who is a little bitter at the club because they forced his retirement.

In May he said he wanted to play on, in July he announced his retirement, I think Doc was tapped on the shoulder by coaches and list management and he probably feels a bit dudded by the club.

I think in time he'll come to the realization the time was right and I would love to see him back at the club in some sort of role after he's given media a shot.

No one has said Charlie Curnow in the last 30 minutes.
