Was saying that in the pub in the 2nd half. The Swans may well have adopted a defensive game plan to counteract the forward thrusts the Cats would have put on. But we would not have played the highly naive tactical suicide Williams did by persisting with his attacking running game even though the Power were getting tackled with the footy & coughing it up, only for the Cats to rebound at will.

Round 7 - West Coast lose by 39 points (from memory you have alot of injuries)

Yes on the heart but no on the general outcome of the game towards the general non-bias public. The only supporters who will be cheering will be the Cats but everyone else will be upset about the fact that, the most awaited game of all season was so so.. anti-climax.

Reading this thread is quite disappointing, basically fans of both clubs deriding what the Cats have achieved today and throughout the year. They have shown emphatically that they were far and away the best team this year. Any attempts to deride their year by saying how close the previous 2 GF's were is a slight on what they did today, they completely destroyed the 2nd placed team today and the fact is neither WC or Sydney were good enough this year to make it to today regardless of any excuses ie injuries. Just acknowledge what they did and be gracious as supporters who did not make it.

Take nothing away from the Cats, they were brutal today, so i wish people would stop assuming we're devaluing the win by Geelong. I think most people who don't support either the Power or the Cats, would prefer a tight contest, where no team curls up into a ball like Port Adelaide did today.

It's amazing that through all the spite and rivalry between many Sydney and West Coast fans over the last few seasons, the one thing that remains is the respect that i think most of us have for the other team, as BKE alluded to in a thread on the Sydney board.

I'm not taking anything away from Sydney and West Coast, given the intensity of the contests in the 2005 / 2006 grand finals, but games of footy where the spectators are only treated to 2-3 goals by the team they are supporting in each term is a hell of a lot more boring than watching teams play a running, free-flowing brand of footy.

The aim of the game is to kick the ball through the big sticks... not throw stacks on the mill.

wow, are you kidding? intense games, battles of the midfield, good forwards against good backs, thats a game Id like to watch. shootouts are good, as long as the game is still intense and BOTH teams are actually trying.

in most cases 9/10 one team gives up after half time making it a boring game. The only people who like shootouts are kids with ADD.

I dislike the shootout regardless..i guess it stems from my dislike of bball and the whole coast to coast garbage which happens in shootouts.

Jeez it wasnt the most exciting game was it, but I stuck around and watched it all. Couldnt believe how crap Port were, I really wanted a close tight contest but instead Port dished up some of the worse skills I have ever seen and what about all the loose Cats players running around while their opponents, the Port players, wandered around in hazy daze
