Yeah he should be, but my point was more, given where our list is at, there's no point going after him.

If we were top 4 and needing that x factor in the forward line, I'd be all for it.

By the looks of it, we're bound to finish above bottom 4 and outside the 8 against next year. Adding Elliot won't do much to change that.
If that’s the internal feeling at the club of where we are at then it’s a long road back because using that metric by the time the kids are ready the mature age talent will be all gone and we’re scr3w3d all over again

I see your point, but I think both GC and Hardwick will be under huge internal and external pressure to deliver a flag… or at the very least, make a deeper run into finals.

They know that while developing and keeping players with potential is important, the focus has to be on winning now, which is exactly why they brought in Dimma.

It’s one thing not to want to trade out your local home grown academy talent .. but they (with thanks to Charlie’s management and the recent links to Geelong/Collingwood) would realise to be pieces on the table to make certain deals happen, and I think Bailey fits the bill (being a Victorian and die hard Carlton fan who grew up idolising Patrick Cripps).

On top of that, landing a marquee player like Curnow would boost local interest and strengthen their profile in the competition.
I'm not sure there's quite the huge internal pressure to win a flag immediately. They're just scratching the surface of what they could be, this was just step 1. No one expected a top 4 push or even a finals win really, just making finals was the goal, they ended up exceeding expectation to a point.

They will be around the pointy end for 5 yrs at least, likely much longer. They're not an old team needing to win before a cliff, so topping up now is absolutely necessary. There's no need at all for them to panic buy.

I’m calling it now; Fly feels like the kind of bloke who takes rival players and coaches out for “tax-deductible” coffees … mainly so he can finally cash in that ninth stamp on his loyalty card for a free latte.
sadly it's only deductible if you buy food or coffee and take it back to your office for a meeting

It was a calculated call that didnt go the right way.

David Swallow could easily have gone the same way, but Dimma basically said openly he was picked solely to give the boys an emotional boost. I'd say the Doch selection was similar, but alas it didn't appear to give anyone a boost.

In hindsight it looks bad. If there was a lift and we win, it's being praised instead.
I'd agree if it was 50/50, but having it come off was a long shot at best.

Do not want.
Doubling down on an out of date style of footy.
Out of date styles, what have you been watching. The best player in PF weekend was Dangerfield, a bull that can play under pressure in the midfield and forward line and deliver. Petracca is a similar type.

We probably can’t afford Petracca, but he would be a great addition if we could imo.

Players (senior) showing dissent at not getting their way perhaps…?
Time to rid that and get back on course..
Doesn't necessarily have to be dissent. Could also be: if you think we can't win it all (due to off field moves) then I won't try as hard.

Maybe they went from doing all the extras to doing just the required. That little drop can mean a lot.
