Congratulations to everyone who has been successful so far!
I'm checking my bank account every half hour like crazy today but no luck so far (P2 member) I've been a member since I was about 14 years old, I'm now 38. Have entered in every ballot we've made the big dance & never been successful. Am I just that unlucky or have others never gotten the golden ticket before?

I've added on a P1 a few years when I could afford it but my husband passed this year (also lifelong cats fan) and now on a single income it's no longer affordable for me. I think the ballot system is as fair as it can be but I'll always whinge club allocations are pitiful but we've all known that for a long time.

For anyone else patiently waiting for money to come out like me here's hoping for the best. Otherwise I'll have to have to hang out the front of the G & offer up a kidney for a ticket 😂

The allocations should go to the longest serving members first.
Bit unfair if someone is a member for 1 year and snags a ticket.
And someone who’s been a member for 20 years misses out.
Haha can you imagine if the entire MCG was decked out with senior citizens.

"GEELONG WINS THE GRAND FINAL.. and the crowd gives a fairly polite golf clap"

He didn't say that at all. He said, quote, Over 50 years of club membership and no luck in the ballot.

I have some sympathy for the devil here. The need for the membership to be held on a continuous basis is, especially over 50 years, unrealistic.

All it takes is to lapse your membership for a single year because you lose your job, you move overseas, you have a baby, you have to work Saturdays for a year, whatever. Frankly, the club should do it on cumulative years anyway, as it's still the same amount of money going into the club.

I'd probably be up to 21 consecutive years now (see join date) if it weren't for the years when I had to work Friday night and Sunday day to support myself as a student.

Let's face it, you'd most likely be over 80 and have to be dragged onto hard arsed seats, or wheeled in, which is a whole 'nother battle with Ticketek. Breakfast at Bernies Level 2.

You could probably save that money, get a cheaper membership, then pay for NM breakfast or whatever upmarket seat, every time you make a GF. Bit of a false economy x 50 years if you don't make physically make it. Haha.

There's not a year gone by the ordinary punter doesn't seethe at the AFL and it's Corporate lurks.

I had a look at the Brisbane page for tickets. That club must do something weird.
P1's are getting awful tickets. Well not awful but they deserve better.

Do they really get charged $12 for the ballot?

Problem with that is the same people always go
The new members disengage and membership revenue falls

But I don't have the answers, its a hard one

I was priority 1 and had $420 taken from my account last night. l am assuming it's a seat, would anyone know where it might be?

Based on that amount level 4 id say (but not restricted probably front

When I lived in Melbourne I went 0/3 on the 16 game membership in the ballot. When your kids are born sign them up for MCC. That's about the only thing you can do about it with how greedy the AFL are with the corporates on GF day unfortunately.

Does anyone have any experience getting 'leftover' MCC tickets as a restricted (or full) member on the morning of the game? First year as a restricted member so not sure what my odds are here.

I know they released a batch last year at 10:30, but I'm not sure how many or how likely it will be I can snare one.... don't want to get my hopes up. For those of us still trying to get tickets by other means I think it works in our favour that both teams have recently won one, and this is Brisbane's third GF in a row...

Yeah I got one on morning of in 2022 as restricted. Keep an eye on their socials on the morning between around 10-11am. You still have to pay for the ticket (like you would a guest pass). I already had a GFC ticket but most of my mates were in MCC so I went in there and offloaded the GFC ticket. I’ll prob do the same this year if possible.

When I went in 2022 they let in a fair few restricted members. Swans would be similar to Lions, if it was Pies there would be no chance but I think some restricted will get in. What sort of ungodly hour you would have to join the queue would be another thing entirely.

If you are a full member the other thing I would check with the MCC is what they do with all the handed back reserved seats from the ballot. I got one last year and handed it back when Geelong didn't make it. I'm sure there would be plenty of Hawk / Pie fans do the same this year, particularly when the alternative is to potentially watch Geelong win a flag. They would have to re-issue them somehow right to avoid empty seats. It would be a pain in the arse handing out single seats on the day in the reserve sections to walk ups.
