It’s smart management of the players , instead of taking a long term deal for unders they sign for untill FA so that they can reassess their earning opportunities.

SDK is back playing good footy. Seems to have his confidence back. His body language is much better too. Why when with him and O'Sullivan we have our 2 KPD's for another decade would you just give that up?

Absolute lunacy to do so YOTC:... for those to even contemplate such a horrific thought really do need to reconsider such nonsense. Young talented tall key position players 'are priceless and rare'. Yet here we are at Catland having the best double-combo young tall key position backs in the AFL in SDK and COS and some here on Geelong Bigfooty are entertaining the thought of trading SDK which in all honesty horrifies me at the very thought. I don't get angry often but the very thought of us trading SDK would do my head in, just madness.

TBH, if true, I find the Stanley signing a bit strange. I would have waited until after trade period. If we land Marshall (or someone else), he isn't needed.

And in a perfect world I don't even really want him playing VFL, because it would take ruck time away from Conway/Edwards (if fit). He might still be better than those two next year, but there's not much to be gained (for the club or Rhys) having him play VFL each week.

The only player on st kildas list worth trading sdk for in contract is the one who just signed for 2mil a year.

I think we are his preferred choice, but I suppose he has to be open to another club if he Geelong can't get the deal done.
His Management was ment to be talking to Geelong many months back

That's true, stanley is 12 months of cover and a free (in terms of soft cap) ruck coach.

Well he only signed a two-year extension with us in March this year - so I'm thinking he doesn't as it was pretty clear TDK has been going to the Saints for some time now and SDK will have known this.

He signed 2 years because he wants the big FA contract in 2027-pretty standard practice now. Hes very happy here.

Here's the problem with 3rd hand info coming through media. We can't really tell if he's saying he desperately wants Geelong but the suns and Sydney are chasing him too, or, he's talking to all 3 clubs equally with a passing preference for us.

All we know is he's talking to 3 and Barrett said his "preference" was us and at the end of the day we don't really know what is meant by "preference".

I read it as just the usual "link me to Geelong to up the other offers" type arrangement, and I'm struggling to reconcile other versions.

We were chasing him years ago apparently and made him a massive offer was the word.

My guess is that our offer from years ago represents more dollars than he's currently got on the table and that's why his manager got on the blower, trying to ratchet the offers he's actually entertaining up.
