Wouldn't read too much into this bit in particular... They have an alcoholic drink beverage they own with the Daicos boys... And I'm pretty sure I also sure video with the Daicos boys with them pre count as well

They are all involved in the Barry business thing.

He wont be getting to Geelong its impossible with the currency we have. Just trying to get swans or gc to pay more.
He's putting a lot of effort in.
Sitting at Geelongs game v Hawks
Enjoying Dangerfields comments on Brownlow day
Telling Voss he wants a trade
I think something is in play between the clubs.
We'll see in a couple of weeks

I agree. Normally Geelong stage-manage incoming player movement. Players only announce if Geelong is confident they can pull it off. I think Geelong don't mind over-paying, but if something is impossible they nip it in the bud.

This Curnow thing is building steam early. Maybe the Poach Brothers (Wells & Mackie) have a plan. #PureSpeculation

To rub further salt into WB Supporters, maybe we've unlocked "Bonus" levels on the Baz trade. That is, Baz as a drawcard of Talent.

Whether it is JUH or Curnow, Baz seems to be a genuine, salt of the earth guy who can sway decisions. If highly talented opposition players like how Baz has blossomed here, it can only mean good things.

Money can't buy the goodwill that "champs in other teams will take a pay-cut to play for us"

Baz is very good mates with Curnow, and the Daicos boys, as they all run a business together. Baz regularly posts pics out and about with those other guys.

Not bad for an over-rated front running figjam w***er who destroys every relationship at the club he's at.....

This Curnow stuff suggests we really want him and are willing to give up an amount which at least might get it done. A couple of first rounders at least.

I was only semi joking when I said we'd get some great melts if we recruit Curnow and Shannon Neale starts the year as our number 1 ruck. Chris Scott is clearly in love with rucks who are great runners and Neale is a great runner.

Im almost leaning towards we know we aren’t going hard for Curnow.

Surely Danger doesn’t say what he says if we are… isn’t that needling Carlton?

Curnow is contracted.

I just think we’d be much more low-key about it if we were legit going hard to make a trade happen and not needling a club that has him contracted.

Maybe Im wrong and danger is just being danger.

Hard to see it happening IMO… especially since we seem to be looking to snag Roma.

GC and Sydney have much more amo to get a trade done and if he wants out bad enough, he’ll go to whoever Carlton say they will trade with out of his preferred options.

Reckon we are getting used as a stepping stone.

There's too many rumours going around to suggest we're not interested.

Don't be surprised if we know it's unlikely this year but what happens in 12 months if Curnow is ordinary and Carlton miss finals again?

We’ve come this far without a Marshall type ruckman. Do we need one? Run a state league ruck with Stanley, Blitz, SDK, Neale etc. Have a crack at Curnow instead

If you match up some of the dates

Curnow apparently reached out to Cats 4 months ago
Carlton ITK poster said cats were floating idea of Conway trade about 3months ago

very possible we have been working on this for some time

also possible Blues said get stuffed and we moved on.

Curnow (via his manager) made an approach to Geelong about 4 months ago. That's been reported in recent weeks. This is not a last minute thing that just popped up on everyone's radar.

Do I think he get's to Geelong - NO. But I've got no doubt Geelong are entertaining the idea of Curnow being in a Geelong jumper next year and nothing should really surprise us these days. We all understand the contractual side of the equation and that will make it really hard - almost impossible to get a deal done.

But I think the flipside with this is the absolute will of the player to leave for a variety of reasons we may not be aware of. Contracts can and will be broken and it happens in industries of all types. Will this be a landmark trade scenario where we see players call the shots and hold their current club to ransom. The Bailey Smith example showed us one thing - it can be done and it certainly doesn't hurt negotiations if a player cites "mental health" / "the need to be closer to family of support networks" / "the need to get out of Melbourne for PERSONAL reasons". Yes Bailey Smith was coming out of contract, but if Curnow's manager holds his ground and says his players well-being is paramount and he MUST be allowed to leave, then it creates an interesting stand-off.

Think of it in reverse if Geelong had someone like Stengle say that they need out to be closer to family and support networks and "for my well-being I just can't stay in this environment". My guess is that Geelong would prioritise helping the player first and foremost. I'm going to stop short of saying anymore but I suspect if some of the stuff floating around is true, then there is a lot of stuff to play out with the Curnow matter. If you ask around with ITK Carlton supporters, it sounds as though there's a good chance that Curnow staying there is untenable.

I don't hate that idea at all.

Shannon has shown a hell of a lot as a forward this year, but he definitely has the size to be a ruckman and the mobility to get around the ground really well. I could see him being a dominant mobile ruck/forward within a year or two, similar to a Luke Jackson.

If the impossible did happen and we managed to find a deal for Curnow, I could imagine a world where we play Neale primarily as a ruckman and Jezza and Curnow as key forwards, with Shannon pushing forward as the game requires and to take the oppo ruckman out of his comfort zone.

Blitz as second ruck, and otherwise maybe playing mostly behind the ball and taking ruck contests in defence to allow Shannon to play further up the ground. Stanley keeping fit in the VFL ready to come in if there is an injury.

That could be a pretty flexible and powerful set up IMO.

I'm not sure what the correct term would be - whether its irony and simply taking the p**s - but imagine if we picked up Curnow for a combination of player(s) and pick(s) abd Jack Martin was part of the deal after proving he can string games together and be very dangerous
