Strange they didn't try Nash who is a beast at 196

Nash aggression wasn't at the level to match Dangerfield. I saw him try a few times but Dangerfield was just too strong in the contest and Nash just let him go ball hunting. Starce and Dunkley would put their body on the way and be equally aggressive back at him.

I’d have Day in for Big O as he’s more mobile and probably was in better form - not that’s saying much. Also it would destroy the team if Big O the spiritual leader is canned on the eve of GF day.

Big O just has to compete. He can’t let his opponent roll off him all game and impact other contests. He also can’t let his opponent run off him once Cats have won the turnover.

If it’s Big Os last game I want him to take out 3 or 4 cats players.

I’m not really sure about this, because if they’re bringing Stanley in he can only play ruck, and if they shift Blicavs forward for Harris it a) takes Blicavs out of the game essentially and b) leaves them with a massive Stewart shaped hole down back. Blicavs can at least provide some of the intercept zoning and run that Stewart provides, vs just not having that at all if he’s forward.

Plus I think Harris has learned from the 2023 GF, I feel that a tag has been tried a few times and instead of worrying about it he’s just ignored them and played off them completely.
If Blicvas plays on Andrew’s I actually don’t think it will be a lock down role. I think he will try to outwork Andrews and the Cats will look to to through him a lot - if Andre’s doesn’t follow which I don’t think he will. I also think Cameron will play deeper if Blicvas plays forward. There will be a mismatch if Blicvas plays forward with Cameron and Neale IMO. Lester and Gardiner will have to work overtime to cover each other.

End of day, I think the defenders can handle most of it. If the Lions mids arent destroying Cats mids there is no chance Lions can win. Imo. Even breaking even in the midfield or around the ground clearance and stoppage work it will be a really tough ask. I think the team has to win those battles convincingly.

If we're going to play Oscar instead of just using him as a decoy or taking up space at a few throw ins and ballups we need to work out away where he could inflict some damage on Geelong. Which is the last thing they would expect.

Whoever's on him in the forward line is going to try to set up plays running off him. That'll be their plan. They'll be licking their chops over it. What are we going to do about it that might surprise them ?
What if he plays a little higher? Takes a defender away from the immediate goal area because he has to be manned up and creates space. Thinking about the Gallop goal where it was Oscar who was front and square and forced the ball forward into Gallop’s waiting arms. Oscar can do the forward 50 ruck work and Fort can zone off defensively down the line like Gawn does. When it’s Oscar’s turn to do the centre square ruck work, he and Fort swap. Fort has been sensational of late, especially in the Preliminary, where his tap work was sublime. I think we will dominate in the ruck department and if they can each kick a goal or two, it might guarantee a win.

Second quarter, about 07:15 on the clock (FOX Footy)

Watch until about 06:58 - it takes much longer than those 17 seconds.

Towards the end, listen to the chant.

(It's footy, I don't link the specific vision with the sound. I would have been doing the same, Berry going off as the COLLINGWOOD chant starts up - they aren't chanting in any way savouring his injury)

We came up against that, as THAT happened.....against the Pies.

Tell me I am wrong.

Tell me we don't have IT.

You know.
We ALL know.
IT.

The kicker here is.....

They have it too.

So what then?

??????????????

Watch the third quarter, aye :D

I see what he sees :D

Both sender and recipient need the Ticketek app installed
What happens if they do not have the app

I'm happy to be corrected but I don't believe anybody outside the club knew about Lachie's struggles heading into last year's grand final. This year everybody knows he's undrt a fitness cloud.
He wasn't able to walk properly between games for some time so it wasn't any secret to many outside the club . I think it was one of those things where the media and others presumed it wasn't too bad because he kept fronting up the next week.

A method to not getting run off by defenders or getting easily rebounded out of the forward fifty is to play Oscar deep and/or not letting him get isolated (unless playing as a decoy). Gallop playing around the fifty helps stop this due to his mobility and ground ball pressure. Turnovers are more damaging around half forward. Get the ball deeper if need be and try to lock it in. Slowing down the transition from turnover at the source allows our defense to get set then good luck to the Cats getting through Andrews and Co.

Oscar is either going to produce something we didn't expect or it's going to cost us to a reasonably significant degree.

Maybe this is a bigger risk than Neale. With Stanley in it throws another element into the mix.

Whatever limits you think oscar has are more than compensated for by the emotional impact of him playing.

Do it for Oscar.

Stanley in evens us playing Oscar to be honest. Big O will be fired up and he'll take all comers in the center bounce.

We have played the 100% well drilled games multiple times this season, usually when we play one of those the drop off will be stark next week. I'm glad we haven't done it in the finals yet, so here's hoping we have all guns blazing come saturday.
