2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

He’s a gun and has years left.

He’s like a Pendlebury, he’s sees the game so well and hits targets so quickly he doesn’t really need great pace or physicality to be effective.

You can’t teach what he has but thankfully it should extend his career.

Has anyone else noticed how Brisbane have started delaying the hand-pass on occasions and by doing so it’s putting the receiver into meters of space. It looks just like a good back in rugby breaking a line open, like watching Darren Lockyer.
He'll be playing until he's at least 35.

I see Gresham as slow, selfish and he thinks he's far better then what he actually is. He got a reality check this year sitting his ass on the pine as sub. Read some posts from that board who would like him delisted next year. Ha!

Billings was far to passive. Happy to sideways kick it all day long. Won't take the game on and his kicking for goal is some of the worst ever witnessed in AFL. At the end of the day he had next to no impact and that's why we turfed him and now he's not on an AFL list. Max Hall is what we wanted Billings to be in the early days.

Played some very good football for us and was consistent as well.

Injuries slowed his roll with us and everyone got on his case because like ming he’d signed a decent contract. Gresham is another who people now love to talk down. He wasn’t as talented as billings imo but he certainly had some tricks until a string of injuries including an Achilles took away some pace and agility.
Consistently no impact & soft.
And he might of been the best kicker at training
but that rarely translated on to the field,
He was another turnover king too.

I wonder what our age profile will look like if we bring in these 5 guys.

Extremely good. Higgins turns 27 at seasons start and of those above him, only Wilkie and Sinclair are very important. Expecting Marshall to leave. Most of what we are looking forward to starts from Hall who turns 24 at seasons kick off and younger. Flanders and Aleer are 24, TDK is 26/27, JSOS 28, Ryan 29. We will have one of the youngest lists i reckon.

I lot of that is urban legend stuff.

Played cricket, grandfather played for us, was killing it at port Melbourne and deciding on football over cricket late. He wasn’t a stable pony for billings.
As they were good mates during their junior footy
I heard Billings approached the coaches & said have a look at Sincs

Was at a bayside petrol station this morning, Max King was filling up next to me. He couldn’t even lift the nozzle out of the bowser he was so weak. After seeing that it’s clear his career is over. Delist.

Yet we picked Raph clark who’s brother is not even that good of a player.. Just blindly trying to copy recruitment of Cyril Rioli and failing miserably.
Raph was drafted years before Cyril. You're thinking of Ben Long. Richo specifically said we drafted Long to be our Cyril, then Shai Bolton went one or two picks later.

Billings was not a bust but not a win.

Bloke was a gun junior but lacked "it" to be a gun AFL player.
We thought we were getting a match winner at pick 3 and we ended up with a guy who at two clubs wasn’t even in the best 22 by the end of it. That’s a bust in every sense of the word. One of many during that time.

He had Hunter Clark in the passenger seat, and after Hunter managed to unbuckle himself, he got out and together they lifted the nozzle. I was really heartened by the teamwork and look forward to 2026.

Probably won't change much if they're replacing Webster, Jones, Boyd and Cordy.
Webster 32 y.o, Jones 31 y.o, Boyd 28 y.o, Cordy 29 y.o for the start of next season

TDK 26 y.o, SOS 28 y.o, Aleer 24 y.o, Ryan 29 y.o for the start of next season.

Do your sums Boy oh

Your taking the piss yeah?

Watching the grand final pre-game entertainment.. I mean I liked hip pop music and Snoop dogg 20 years ago in my 20s. This is just a little sad, most of this crowd probably don’t even know the music.. Would have been much better if they got some Australia got talent contestants and make a show out of it. At least a little more local and relevant.

I don't see how anyone can have any faith in Max at all at this stage.

I would have rather we moved him on instead of giving him such a bad contract.
Why am I not surprised at this post from you…. 🙄

I think you may have been mistaken, as Max is overseas. I saw him this morning at a cafe in Gymuri in Armenia and he had the waiter lifting up the coffee cup for him to drink his cappuccinno. To be fair it was a large cup.

Yeah well Joffa, you like Stocker too
So not much of a judge on players
Well I look at facts and just don't shitcan players that did things that none of us here could ever do.
He played 170 AFL games, wasn't developed and was disappointing, but to call him a busting plain ignorance.
As for Stocker, Lyon keeps selecting him and he just got a new contract, you know better than Lyon as well?

I think we might be under 24 next year

Max has been doing significant bike work for atleast 2 months.

He is doing MULTIPLE weight sessions everyday. Yes, he even does sessions specific to both knee and shoulder aswell as a general strength building sessions.

The fact he isn’t running day 1 of pre season is more due to the advice of his surgeon. Which the club is following.

Which they have also been told to allow for a significant period of building his body, strength and conditioning in the gym.

Max is an absolute easy target for some very soft football fans. Happy to say the next time most people see him in person, you’ll notice a considerably stronger Max King.

I’ll believe it when I see it. At this point the only thing he can do to change my mind is prove it on the field
