Morris is a tall forward and plays like one, they played 3 talls the entire year even if it meant playing guys like Sam Day and Henry Smith in order to keep the structure.

He is a medium, he plays tall. It is why Hayward should be ours.

What are you even talking about, he is a key forward in every possible metric, do you legitimately think because he’s 191cm (same height as someone like Mihocek) he’s no longer a tall forward?

Thinking Hayward could play the same role is ridiculous.

Have people already forgotten that we started this season with a 2 tall forward set-up? I was even happy at time that Cox was trying it too.

But it didn't work. We looked like shit. We managed a grand total of 5 marks inside 50 agaimst the Hawks, and the lack of marking options forward arguably cost us the Brisbane match one week later, so Cox wisely reverted back to 3 talls. I don't see how or why anyone would expect him to make the same mistake again next year.
There were other reasons it looked like shit. McDonald and McLean both injured and Tom McCartin out of position playing forward with Blakey playing deep in compensation; did not work like a charm. Totally upset the balance of the team.

I think that if you want 3 tall forwards, they need to be mobile and agile, but McLean isn't. I was hoping Buller could take his role because he is way quicker and better with ground balls and tackling. But it seems that the club has other ideas.

I suspect that if Max King can develop the necessary smarts for senior football, he will replace McLean, and that will be a much better outcome.

He’s a medium who plays above his height. It is why we need an extra medium or a small and hopefully it means we are we Rosas. 3 useless to mediocre talls doesn’t make it a good idea play the small or medium and bring it to ground. Hopefully Cox isn’t as stubborn as Horse was

Don’t under estimate Geelong being able to get Curnow. I have a feeling it might be one of those deals where another club or possibly 2 or 3 get involved to facilitate a trade. It is trade period anything could happen and there will be a few surprises. I think he could end up on Gold Coast though if Geelong falls through. GC might want it as insurance in case King decides to return to Melbourne next year.

What’s the point if he is hell bent on the cats
The Office Thank You GIF

I think if that's the case then we need to have more discussions with JUH so we have other targets of required.

Not just JUH though. We need to be pursuing our other targets more aggressively if Curnow is faffing around.

I'm sure the recruitment have many such deals to work through so hopefully they focus on those while Curnow works through things. We don't want to put all our eggs into one basket only to be left jilted by everybody else. If that means Curnow misses out on a move, oh well. The team comes first

King is about the same height as Morris but more mobile. At the moment he is probably too skinny to play that KPF role but you could see him playing a Nate Caddy roving third tall kind of role. Maybe not immediately but perhaps in his second year. McDonald is more like Jezza Cameron (not the quality but in style) and Amartey playing out of the square. Probably not 2026 but possibly 2027. That could get the job done.

Does anyone feel like Rosas is coming in as a best 22 player? Assuming health, I’d imagine we’re lining up as follows:

HF: rotating mid - McDonald - Hayward
FF: Papley - Amartey - McLean

With the likes of Campbell and Dattoli I would imagine ahead of him in the pecking order.

All for adding depth to the list, and he’ll definitely have a better chance of contributing to the team than the late pick we’re presumably giving up for him, but I’ll remain cautious about expecting much from the pick up personally.

Might need to clear a spot for Charlie :thumbsu: :D ;)

Cats won't fluff around with it and Curnows management are not confident on a deal with Geeling being done, in fact from reports Curnow isn't even Geelong's main priority (prioritising Marshall).

Curnow's main priority is getting out of Carlton and ideally chasing success.

If he gets to us, we are confident he will train and play hard.

Everything that has been reported is he wants to go to the Cats but would happy to go to Sydney if he can't get there. That's not hellbent Mate. If that is indeed the case then I think his head is in the right place and not in any way a case of him not being 100 percent committed if he was to land in Sydney. These guys are pros or the majority are and their pride and competitivness kicks in. Having said that I think Geelong are going to stuff his chances of getting out of Carlton by knowing they can't do the deal and will string it out as long as they can hoping Carlton will cave. Fits theChris Scott arrogance. We have the collateral if we want but by that time it may be too late she cried.

Agree 100 percent Bonz but I have a feeling they will stuff it up by stalling as long as they can. It is a well know fact though that Marshall is their main target. After watching those 2against Fort & Big O Saturday you can see why.

That's not what I am hearing from the Media. He wants to go to Cats. Blues are not letting him go. Their stance here is: HE IS CONTRACTED AND NOT GOING ANYWHERE
Publicly. As expected.

Privately. Not the same story.

Charlie is adamant he is not returning to Carlton.

I'll be utterly stunned if he is still a Carlton player on day 1 of preseason training.

I don’t think we can afford him. Our prime performers are already on their max contracts or about to negotiate their next ones.

You’d also be practically walking Chad out the door in two years because we wouldn’t come close to matching the market price.

If Chad had another dud season next year though I’d be happy to start looking around for a star mid and letting the former walk.

I think the best kid we could hope for in this trade period is someone like a Hustwaite.

I did see it stated that his contract is on almost TDK St Kilda level money for its remainder.
