Yeah, I'd be happy to get another Top 40 pick.
We might also wait until the Cochran bid (which I think comes before our 4th pick), then trade back in immediately if there's someone we like still around, just like we did to get Snell.
I'd be very surprised if Cochran doesn't get a bid from 45+.I’m still holding out hope no one bids on the ND and we take him as a rookie. Would allow us the best of both worlds
I wonder whether we could also be interested in combining our third and our f2 for something a bit higher too.
The other thing is, maybe we're waiting to see what happens with Cochran and in the likely event he survives until after 40, we could trade up/in at that point to grab someone else first.I’m still holding out hope no one bids on the ND and we take him as a rookie. I have no idea who Riley Bice is but it's sending my OCD into overdrive. Every time read his name i read Bailey Rice (son of premiership Carlton player, Dean and I spent time living with both) its driving me nuts, I really hope we don't pick him.ESPN’s final predictions:
Sydney: 19, 22, 44, 59, 85, 91
- 22: Jonty Faull
- 26: Ollie Hannaford
- 40: Riley Bice
- 52: Joel Cochran (Academy)

ESPN's full, final Phantom Draft - every pick, every trade, every bid
It's draft day! Seventy-one picks, nine bids, four live trades, and a whole lot of drama is being predicted in ESPN's full, final Phantom ahead of the 2024 AFL Draft.www.espn.com
Personally wouldn’t take a KPD- we need a forward more! Did you not see how putrid our forward line was most of the year? Heeney saving everyone’s you know what’s isn’t sustainable.
Key Forward-Small-Forward (first two picks)
Third pick (Kennedy OR a small defender)
4th Cochran
I would like another one in between the first two and the third but everyone on here hates me saying I’d trade our f1 to do it. That’s what the cost would be (minimum)

The changes also come with the ability to trade 2 years of future picks. So it's probably robbing 2026 and 2027 to pay for 2024.With our academy selections next year and likely changes to the bidding rules I doubt we trade out our future first.
If rule were staying the same, then 100% would be down for doing it, but right now not much of a chance.

Gerreyn not so much if we grabbed Faull earlier.Ough and Gerryn at pick 40 also available make a lit of sense.
PREACHSee I would and I’ve been consistent on this, every year people overrate academy kids a year out- Edwards was a top 25-30 pick a year out.
We can trade both out 2026 and 2027 picks next year if need be our 2027 hand is worth significantly more.
The only flankers I'd tolerate is say a Harry Oliver who is quite tough, combative, could turn into a small defender, or Angus Clarke (188cm) who with some added size could be a decent medium def/fwd (and comes from my hometown so biased). If we take another small winger/half back flanker ill be just straight pissed off. Lost multiple GF's from being too flanker heavy
I'd be picking him (Davis) with one of our firsts.Pleased to read we’ve taken an interest in Hamish Davis.
Apparent interest in Trainor too.
Keeps my hopes up.

When you're in the window now, and might be wanting some extra quality ready to play in 2 years, to extend the window, seems like it's worth considering.
I'd be picking him (Davis) with one of our firsts.
I'd be skipping right past Trainor though.
A slightly different take/prediction on our Night 1 picks:

Of course there are exceptions. For every one of the above there are 5-6 who fail.Grundy, Rampe, Melican, Aliir say hi.
Stewart, Ryan, Sicily, McGovern, Wilkie etc.
2026 we have even more potential first round prospects from the academy.
2027 is first draft affected by Tasmania, doubtful many clubs would trade it in for equivalent value.
I can actually see us purposely going into deficit in 2027.
We cannot afford to for 2026 as it would likely affect our ability to match bids.
Don't have Dattoli going in the first round.![]()

It only affects us IF they continue to be rated as they are. Get to next year and Chamber is a second round and King is a late first and we could have easily traded out. They aren't Ashcrofts lets be very very clear here. Get the talent in while contending worry about next year then, and we still have Chad over our head we have that bounty too
