This just stinks of him going to Geelong. Cats players have now twice very publicly took the piss out of the situation and alluded to it .

For those hoping a trade falls through and gives us a sniff, I’d argue it’s highly doubtful. This is footy for us and life for the players. Pretty unreasonable that curnow or his fiancé will just be ok with a move interstate at the last minute when they have their hearts set on Victoria and more specifically Geelong.

King is about the same height as Morris but more mobile. At the moment he is probably too skinny to play that KPF role but you could see him playing a Nate Caddy roving third tall kind of role. Maybe not immediately but perhaps in his second year. McDonald is more like Jezza Cameron (not the quality but in style) and Amartey playing out of the square. Probably not 2026 but possibly 2027. That could get the job done.
Totally agree. Max will take a while.

I can't see Max King playing many AFL games (if any) in 2026 and suspect that even at VFL level he will frustrate by drifting out of games as he builds his footy IQ. However, his athletic profile is tremendous and he is quite developed for a 17/18 year old. I also think he has great hands and good timing when going for a mark. There is definitely a potential top liner there but we will all just have to be patient.

Papley became one of, if not the best small forwards in the comp for us after he wanted to go to Carlton.

Curnow has a preference but he's not going to turn into a spud if he doesn't get to the Cats.
I agree to a certain extent. But I don't think the Paps situation is overly comparable. Paps never fell out of love with the club and was seemingly pretty conflicted about leaving in the first place.

His motivation to move was factors completely external to the club, which is the complete opposite with Curnow.

Petracca last year is probably a better example, but it's hard to evaluate his output this year returning from such a traumatic injury.

Actually that's a totally fair callout re Paps.

I think the fact Curnow has met with Cox and we're still apparently pushing for him says something about how that conversation went and the fact that he'd be happy to play for us.

John Ralph has just confirmed the worst kept secret about Charlie Cursenow. He only wants to go to Geelong, WE DO NOT NEED A PLAYER WHO DOESN'T WANT TO BE AT OUR CLUB. Forget CURSENOW.

We should start looking at Ugle-Hagan. He is just what we need. He has huge talent and if we can get his psych right he could be a great player. The thing is, he is incredibly mobile, like MacDonald so they will both provide huge pressure. Cursenow does not chase or provide any pressure.

Yes just saw that. If he wants to go to Geelong why would we pick him up if we are his second choice. The way Ralph spoke he doubts if Geelong can get it done and Carlton won’t deal because they see Charlie as a potential 80 goals for the year. I tend to agree and don’t think it will get done. Imagine if Carlton let him go and he is kicking bags and Carlton are 0-5 next season, Voss’s job will be on the line.
