2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Was there recently. Hired a Vespa. Took it back the next day. No thanks!

Road rules are pretty organic there. You just have to go when it isn't safe and use the horn a lot.

Cant wait for Nas to walk into Gubby's office and hand back $300k a year for us to keep Wilks
If Cal leaves we should send Nas to play fullback and tell him he did this to himself.

No holiday snaps for me, but this is a photo of my work commute this morning. Australia is beautiful my bros and sisters, make sure you take the time to smell some roses today.

Having said that, in the words of big Carl Dilena don’t forget to keep Fiji front of mind.

Melbourne is a grey drear this morning. Harder to get excited about it out our way.

Windhager has leadership vibes. Sincs seems to be a kind, laid-back cruiser. I think you'd need to get Wood to captain short term or something.

90% of the role is sacrificing your own time for publicity and press commitments. Wood sacrifices his spare time anyway. It would barely change anything for him.
Thought about Wood first.
But he had a quite a drop off this year, I think.
wonder if his best 22 spot is guaranteed for the next 2 years.
Not sure I want to possibly ruin Windy’s trajectory with the responsibilities at such a young age. Let him at least vice captain to Sincs or Wood.

Why would you need to get wood to captain? Seems like a strange prerequisite

I don't disagree. If Wilkie ****s us around so that we go in a defender down because he won't make a call he's a dickhead. We need a decision now so that we don't have another year like we did without Battle.

I've personally lost a lot of respect for him after him being one of my favourites for years. The club should offer to bump his wage a bit and extend him but then demand that he makers a call now so that we can shop him around to other clubs if he wants out. If Essendon, WCE or Carlton will match his wage but give us better compo he can go there.
My 2 cents.

Rowan (confirmed) and Wilkie (guessing) tell the club they want moves. Ross tells them that unless it ends up with us getting X or Y. No deal and see you in November for pre season.

Thats effectively what happened with Ro a few weeks back.

Neither player will publicly request a trade unless their agents are 100000% certain that a club will give us what we want as they are contracted. This is more important for Wilkie than Rowan as wilks is the unanimous next captain.

For most supporters, it will just be noise and never thought of again if Wilkie is named captain.

The issue for Ro is that Geelong look like they're after Curnow, in which case there's no chance we'll get what we want.

It seems like we're open to Wilkie aswell if the Dogs give massive overs but it appears they won't. So that one is a stalemate too.

Geelong have no hope of landing Curnow unless they give up Holmes.

Marshall is there priority.

Perfectly said. Regardless of what happens, I now think it’s the wrong move to make him captain after this.

You know you can both want to remain where you are and have your head turned because of money.
100%. If someone offered to increase my salary by 60% for doing the same job I'd be mad not to consider it. Especially if others at my current workplace were being paid more than me but I was one of the best at the job.
